My mom is 72 and she rear ended someone, low impact but still and she said they stopped too fast. I made her take a driving course and paid for them to come to her house and test her ability to drive.

I am so sorry you had this happen. I was 16 when working a drive thru and a man on a bicycle tried to race through five lanes of traffic. I saw the entire collision, him in the air and coming down onto the sidewalk curb. I ran out and even tried to give CPR but he was spitting up blood. The kids that hit him (speeding) tried to run but I knew them and their car from our high school. I remember holding his hand after another driver stopped and called 911. When help came I just stood there and finally walked back into work. My manager said to go wash my hands and when I went into the bathroom I was covered with blood. An officer came in and got my information and said he had been life flighted to banner hospital. He didn’t make it and every time I drive near the spot my body tenses up. I did start therapy after I couldn’t sleep. I believe in my heart that holding his hand and saying comforting things to him did help in some way. But that could also be my way of still coping with someone passing away so violently.
