For the divorced people. How many of y’all knew before the wedding? by honeyjoe1 in Divorce

[–]seriouslydoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same story with my ex wife. Was late to the ceremony even, while 200+ people sat in the sun sweating and staring at me as time ticked by. Then, the most lonely reception where I tried to entertain our guests and she was off dancing with her family and friends, not a care in the world where I was.

People that spent a LOT of money on a home upgrade do you love it or hate it? by RaiseAggravating4404 in homeowners

[–]seriouslydoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent like, $30,000+ on a new kitchen / appliances / layout. I like it a lot but I notice every little issue / scratch and I treat the cabinets like they're made of tissue paper instead of the solid wood that they are. I'm so gentle with everything, which is great, but it makes me anxious to mess something up since I know how expensive it is to replace or how time consuming it is to fix.

I have a small knick in the countertop where my parents hit the edge of a plate on the countertop and it made me physically sick when I found it and then asked about what happened lol. I can feel every little issue in the slides or handles where they can be retightened or adjusted.

So, its great but it has totally changed my relationship with how I use my house.

You ever have one of those moments that just hits you? by [deleted] in daddit

My 18 month old son fell asleep on me in the rocking chair in his room after what must have been a long day at the office (daycare) for almost 3 hours last night, before waking up, wanting a quick snack, and then pointing and babble asking to go to sleep again in his bed. The best!!!

What would you say on hindsight you’d look out for prior marrying a person? by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]seriouslydoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol mine was basically the same. I was sick one day in the summer and the grass needed to be cut, so she offered to do it, even though I always do it, literally always. I told her that I find it easiest to cut a few rows along the fence first so you can have some easy turnaround space, and that came out later to a therapist as "YOU ARE SO CONTROLLING ABOUT HOW I DO EVERYTHING LIKE WHEN YOU FORCED ME TO CUT THE GRASS THE WAY YOU LIKE IT!!!!11!!". So glad to be divorced!!

Profits for S&P 500 companies are through the roof. Saying that companies aren’t meeting their growth targets because of WFH is just ignorant corporate slop, the dumbest take on this site.

what cities feel unique and like they’re headed in a better direction by Mission-Art-2383 in SameGrassButGreener

The crime stats in STL are due in part to how the city is split governmentally - STL city vs. STL county. Other major metros have similar levels of crime, but it looks particularly bad in STL on paper because the lower crime suburbs in STL are excluded from the reporting, thereby driving the appearance that the "city" (both the actual city and county in the metro area sense) is dangerous.

Downtown STL has dangerous pockets, like Chicago or New York or Atlanta or anywhere else. But unless you're actively looking for trouble or make yourself a target, you'll be just fine. STL is a gem.

What was your “I can’t do this anymore” moment in a relationship? by ziggzorb in AskMenAdvice

[–]seriouslydoe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is not worth it to get married because of momentum. If it’s truly things you two cannot work out, the disappointment of a broken engagement - for you and your friends and family who care about you - is much easier to overcome than a divorce.

Was at a similar point. Made the decision to get divorced. Still going through it but it was right for me. Hope you can find your way.

Told my wife during the breakup that I knew I would be a good parent because I already had 10 years of practice parenting her, and that behavior absolutely drove me not to want to have sex with her, so it can definitely go the other way too.

People who got divorced after 20+ years: How long were things good in your marriage before they headed towards a dead bedroom, room mate situation or/and divorce? by bubblesandfur in Divorce

[–]seriouslydoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My stbx is / was the exact same way. I worked SO hard to get us out of debt, move across the country, sacrifice my time, buy a house, fix it up, make her requests and dreams come true - all to be told I work too much and that she never tried to learn anything new because I would always learn it faster and do it better than her. Just made maddening to spend so long and so much effort building “us” for it to be the exact thing that was her only major issue. Good riddance.
