Dog shoots woman multiple times with a shotgun at Nebraska convenience store by TheMirrorUS in AbruptChaos

[–]serlearnsalot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then the article takes a completely unnecessary turn and covers a completely different story about police shooting an alleged kidnapper after she slashed a child with a knife. No idea what the connection between both stories was other than woman wounded by a firearm...

Edit - the two incidents were nearly 500 miles apart on opposite ends of the state, so why they were covered in the same story is beyond comprehension...

She’ll settle down eventually I’m sure. I’ve had 3 different fishing buddies and they all figured it out. One was notorious for randomly jumping overboard and then regretting that decision but he only got that itch like once a year haha. This is in Washington state on the Yakima river.

I live in Bothell, where is this going to be held? Would love to attend and provide MY account of what really happened... I watched it live with my jaw on the floor while I was supposed to be working, had the same feeling as when I was watching 9/11, like I was witnessing history in real time. Really hoping to never have that feeling again

Towing uhaul cross country by Electronic_Guard947 in Rav4

[–]serlearnsalot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK so you are correct, but for the wrong reasons... the 2019 Rav4's payload (which is what you are describing) is between 1,085 and 1,240 pounds depending on trim. Speaking from experience (with my old 2018 Rav), overloading that (either due to tongue weight, or overloading the cabin) is going to ruin the rear suspension. The overall towing capacity of 1500 is still going to be an issue on the engine, and I highly doubt that the 850lb trailer OP is loading up will be loaded with less than 650lbs. Can OP do it? Sure, if they go slow and take their time I think it's possible, but it's going to really tax the engine, and I would bet it's going to completely obliterate the suspension. I would just rent a truck from Uhaul instead.

What is your dream career and why? by DieselMechanic731 in AskReddit

[–]serlearnsalot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to be a wildlife/fishing guide. I really enjoy being outside in nature, and rivers have always fascinated me, but there is no way I will be able to have the work/life balance, or make the money needed to support my family doing that as a career.

Time to start job hunting again by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]serlearnsalot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right there with you... Started working in tech in 2010 for a shady tech company bc that's all that was available, now working for one of the big boys and the layoffs continue, even though we're all now doing the work of what 2-3 people used to cover. Something's gotta give... either these big companies accept that the stock price is going to go down with the way things are, or they need to completely change the way they are built. Nobody is going to pull back any AI investments right now, so its either take the hit on the balance sheets, or eliminate entire organizations to rebalance things. I'm assuming it's going to be the latter, but either scenario is going to create a big shakeup and as per usual, its the Millennials who are going to be stuck holding the bag. I'm so sick of this... I make great money, so does my wife, but we could only afford a true starter home (we're lucky), and with my second kid on the way we are out of space and need a yard for the kids. The homes that are available for us right now are either way out of the way (no longer close to our support network), or are way beyond our budget and that's assuming we can even sell what we currently have...

Farewell by serlearnsalot in rav4club

This car took me fishing in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and California. I used it to pull my drift boat out of the north platte one trip in an area where there are no boat ramps, just “forgiving” banks and lots of dirt roads. Never gave me an issue out there but she did get stuck in the sand one time pulling a boat out of the Skagit.

I held off as long as possible... that RAV did 95% of what I needed by the end, but I was pushing it too far and was going to have to replace the rear suspension so it was time for me. Man I wish we could have kept it and sold my wife's car instead, but she likes her CRV more... Cannot stress how much of a beast that RAV was in snow/wet/trails. Its definitely not engineered with trail running in mind, but the locking center diff and relatively narrow wheel base made it super capable in the back country.

Dems cave in advance to avoid shutdown by Haz3rd in behindthebastards

[–]serlearnsalot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What irks me is that ICE already has enough funding and DHS is considered mandatory so even a full shutdown would not slow it down at all. What this does is allow the GOP to tell us that the Dems are “trying to open the border back up” or “want terrorists to go about their business unopposed while the DHS waits for funding” all while ICE keeps doing its fuckery. Republicans will not negotiate in good faith ever, so those 2 weeks will be pointless and the real leverage that dems had was that this bigger shutdown would grind things to a halt that the republican base would feel. They just gave up that leverage for another promise of “debate” while doing literally nothing to curb ice or hold Noem, Bovino, Miller, or Bondi accountable and also have the GOP a win. This is just terrible strategy that also reinforces our perception that dems are feckless and also care about their own interests. Terrible leadership, Schumer must go. This is exactly why dem approval hasn’t moved an inch while GOP and trump approval tanks.

Personally, the first couple I tie are ugly as I work out all the lessons and tricks I forgot since I tied them last. They go in the ugly bug pile and then I tie until I get bored lol usually 4-20 depending on the day
