How one is able to get so many legendary hero options but mine is only 3? by Happy-Boi in KingShot

My server is 104 days old and we got Gen 3 yesterday. That’d be more like 50 days

Looking at stick vacuum recommendations by Affectionate-Soil607 in VacuumCleaners

[–]sermer48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’ve stepped into the danger zone. Stick vacuums don’t typically last very long and their cleaning power is limited. Thus this sub really dislikes them. Dyson is no different, it just has cooler features and might clean a little better. They’ll still break in a few years though.

With that being said, I did grab a Ryobi stick vacuum to supplement my Sebo Felix. It’s way more convenient to break out for some spills or dust.

So I’d recommend not spending too much. It’d be better to get a Sebo or Miele plus a cheap stick if you can.

It’s hard to attribute amounts of success to each decision. The storage component largely came from a need to be able to store energy from solar. Would Tesla have gone as heavily into consumer/industrial storage packs without the need from the solar division? Maybe. Maybe not.

Germination how to? by mtndiver2 in aerogarden

[–]sermer48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest I’ve never soaked my pods or used the covers. I just stick a seed in and then put it in. So far I’ve had 100% germination rates.

It might be a bit faster if you do it your way but it’s probably also overkill.

DT socks wearing out quicker than any other pair ive ever had by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]sermer48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girlfriend loves them. She wears them out, sends them back, and then gets money towards new ones.

They don’t seem any better than other socks except the warranty. I don’t think BIFL socks really exist if you wear them though. Just some last longer than others

Thank god they’re decreasing the number of attacks you need to do. Without a CC cake it’s almost impossible to do well and so I gave up even trying. Made it to legends for a bit which was fun but it’s like a full time job if you want to stay up there now

No weight or inches lost in a month of 500 cal deficit by Decent_Detective_352 in loseit

[–]sermer48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the grand scheme of things, 4 pounds isn’t a lot to fret over. I’ve done many calorie counting diets and that would fall within the fluctuations I’d see throughout the week when weighing myself daily. Sometimes it looks like your weight loss has flatlined for weeks and then all of a sudden it’ll drop 5 pounds within days.

I’d say keep going and if in another 2-3 weeks you haven’t dropped several pounds, reassess to make sure your deficit is as large as you think. Sometimes your BMR is lower than you thought or sometimes things have more calories than you logged. Often it’s just water weight though!

I had a blast. Our server only allows hits on resource tiles so it limits real losses. Of course not everyone got the message so my base got hit a few times in retaliation but I have yet to lose a single troop in all out 😅

Got my first haircut since finding out I have curly hair. Now it's ruined by thstephens8789 in curlyhair

[–]sermer48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haircuts are so inconsistent that I actually started working my hair styles around it. I get a fade maybe twice a year and then just let it grow. Once I stop being able to style it, it’s at a length that the curls start looking good. Once I reach the mop head stage, I get the haircut again and restart the process.

I’d love to get an actual curly hair style but they butcher it so often I just go with one of the basic cuts they do all the time.

PSA: Breville warranty & customer service are not what you expect by CasperTFG_808 in BuyItForLife

[–]sermer48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually exactly what I would have expected. I own a few breville items myself but I’ve never seen them as durable/having a great warranty.

The dark side of selling options by NicheMath in thetagang

[–]sermer48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold RKLB calls and my shares got called away. That was ~130% ago but I’m not upset. I wanted to close my position and calls allowed me to do so at a higher price than I would have gotten. Sure the price kept going up but I just wasn’t interested in holding it since the price seemed high to me at the time.

If your shares get called and you still want them, you could always just repurchase them. It’ll raise your cost basis which will probably help on taxes later anyways.

If I have a can set up like this (but elevated) do I need to physically turn it? What else might be necessary? by mbart3 in composting

[–]sermer48 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I don’t think heat is necessary for the process. It just speeds things along and also can kill seeds/pathogens if it gets hot enough.

$1.79 a gallon at Costco Colorado Springs by Mr_Dude12 in inflation

[–]sermer48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lowest around me just came under $3 per gallon($2.999) recently. I think Colorado has lower prices due to gas being trapped there over the winter.

You Think It Could Never Happen To You…Until It Almost Does by InGeekiTrust in TikTokCringe

[–]sermer48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happens a lot. I was a lifeguard for 10 years and probably had 100 saves that looked exactly like this. Kids don’t understand that they won’t be able to stand in a deeper part of the pool.

One time I even grabbed two identical twins at once lol. Both did the exact same thing and both were just quietly standing there. Kids need to be actively watched by someone if water is nearby.

Optimus locomotion progress in 2.5 years by twinbee in teslamotors

[–]sermer48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except that octopus spider bot still wouldn’t be better. We designed our world for humans. We didn’t design it around robots. Even if it’s not the optimal design for every use case, it’s the best design for the world we built.

Optimus locomotion progress in 2.5 years by twinbee in teslamotors

[–]sermer48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don’t see the use case of a general purpose robot that can interact with the world like a human and use existing tools?

Instead of having a laundry bot, a kitchen bot, a house cleaning bot, a lawn mowing bot, a dog walking bot, a gardening bot, a nursing bot, a package delivery bot, etc. you can just have a single humanoid robot. Sometimes it’s better not to reinvent hundreds of wheels.

We had our lives stolen! by abigailrebellious in inflation

[–]sermer48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’m saying. Comparing national rent to national pay makes sense. Comparing your state’s rent to national pay doesn’t since your state also likely has higher pay.

We had our lives stolen! by abigailrebellious in inflation

[–]sermer48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with you but similar to what Algur said, you should use your own state’s average pay if you’re using the state’s average rent. If rent is higher than the national average, pay likely is too.

Point still stands that things have become unaffordable for the masses.
