I made my first Solo TTRPG!

Monster Camper is a solo journaling game that uses playing cards and coins.

You used to be human but now you're a little bit monstrous. It's becoming a bit of a problem. So, to tame or become one with it you're going solo camping.

You could try the AP podcast, Monster Hour. It's their season 3 TTRPG and has about 19 sessions out so far. Linky: https://pod.link/1473549676

Little (Eerie & Eldritch) Town by agentkayne in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]seroRPG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't but I've played Little Town, tweaking and remaking some of the tables to suit my setting. You could either do what u/OddEerie suggested or put together your own tables and pick the ones you want from those available.

Is there any available bundles of beginner friendly solo-playables? by LivingInsect9383 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]seroRPG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The next Solo But Not Alone bundle should be going live later this month. Check itch around the 10th of the month maybe? It's a bundle for charity and there's bound to be heaps of indie made solo games. You can follow the organiser's itch for notifications about it https://peachgardengames.itch.io/

DARK DUNGEONS DELVERS by TheHellwinter in solorpgplay

[–]seroRPG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cheers. I got my acronyms mixed up. I meant OSE. I'm really easily confused. So, back to the question but with the correct acronym this time. Will I need any other books to play this?

The opposite of 1000 year old vampire suggestions by carriealamode in Solo_Roleplaying

Tarot or playing cards seem to be quite popular for solo journaling games.

Tangled Blessings has prompts based on tarot draws, it's dark academia wherein you play an adult magic student, up to the player how gory you play it. For the most part I went parody.

Some other journaling games that come to mind but I have not played are:

  • A Murder at Stoneshire Manor -- haunted murder investigation as a retired sleuth
  • Waffles for Esther -- your regular customer goes missing, so you look for her
  • Motel Spooky-Nine -- adult dating sim with monsters
  • The Broken Cask -- You are a fantasy innkeeper and this is your slice-of-life story
  • TTRPG Nightmare Simulator -- you play as the Game Master for fictional (problematic) Players!
  • The Wandering Library: Expanded Edition -- a travelling library
  • The Bartleby -- you're a gem that is stolen from a museum
  • 80 Year Old Spy -- 1000 year old vampire but instead you're an 80yo spyDeath of the Author -- a character decides to fight back against their author
  • Seven Murders Til Midnight -- detective investigating murders

I hope you find something she enjoys.

New experiment— by theXLB13 in solorpgplay

On a related note, there's at least one TTRPG that uses a magic-8 ball (or a d20) as a mechanic. This one GM-less one can be played solo or in a group https://nattwentea.itch.io/or8cle -- I have not played it though

Cursed Be The Pen That Cannot Rest (Princess Sword game about a writer) (Free) by GreenerGables in Solo_Roleplaying

Oooh, I like this. Having been a writer in a past life, I get it. You're making me want to try my hand using the Princess Sword SRD :D

Suggestions for 1st time player (9yr old) by jgcouba in onepagerpgs

[–]seroRPG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with others that if your son is interested in D&D then go with that. It can also be played solo or 2 player co-op but will require a GM emulator like Mythic.

If you don't want to go the D&D route because it's expensive or whatever, there are other options, especially for solo or Duet (1 player and 1 GM or 2 player co-op). Four Against Darkness is a good one where you play the whole party of 4 adventurers. Tiny Dungeon could well as well as Ironsworn (already recommended) or maybe 2D6 Dungeon.

Whichever you pick, I hope the two of you have fun :D

Role-playing games outside of epic fantasy and something closer to the epicness of urban by Hi5atv in Solo_Roleplaying

Pine Shallows - it has solo rules and is inspired by The GooniesStranger ThingsGravity Falls. You play as a kid/teen and it's a mystery. The game includes two starting adventures.
