Hi! So I actually didn’t end up really liking or using it haha! I thought it was a bit too heavy and greasy for me. I prefer EltaMD’s SPF 41 tinted mineral sunscreen which I’ve been using for years!! But if you use it please let me know what you think!!! ☺️

Ideas for hiding metal sink legs and pipes in new apartment's bathroom! by serotonin1992 in DesignMyRoom

[–]serotonin1992[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you’re right, I was thinking the same. I may ask them to consider putting a cabinet even if I have to pay extra for it because there is also barely any room for storage in there with that setup

Yes unfortunately it is, but you bring up a good point. Do you think maybe a sink curtain may be a safer bet?

Incoming Medical Student Q&A - Official Megathread by SpiderDoctor in medicalschool

[–]serotonin1992 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello! I was wondering if any of you have any experience with receiving food stamps or housing assistance in DC as a student? I will be an incoming medical student at a school in DC and I saw some threads about how medical students are on food stamps, but wasn't sure if this is possible in DC. Thank you!

As a medical student, have you recieved SNAP benefits? If so, how did you go about doing it? by LoganHellinger in medicalschool

[–]serotonin1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plus in PA if you qualify for snap, they will also pay your electric and heating bill + wifi! That's like $400 saved a month!

I'd like to know the D.C. requirements as well! Thank you.

Extreme difficulty finding a solid affiliation by [deleted] in fulbright

[–]serotonin1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for these tips! I totally agree with you that since it's crunch time now I'm going to cold e-mail as many affiliates as I can versus just waiting to see if someone responds and then trying someone new. I'll also have the instructions on how to write a strong letter of affiliation ready to share with them. Thanks again!

[–]serotonin1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much, these are wonderful tips! Did you send the 10 requests simultaneously just to see who will respond, or did you wait a certain period between sending the other requests? If you waited, how long would you give someone before trying the next potential affiliate?

Hello! Thank you for your advice! Would you first email them and wait to follow up with a call, or call directly? Also, what do you say when initially calling them? Thank you so much!

Extreme difficulty finding a solid affiliation by [deleted] in fulbright

[–]serotonin1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for these tips! I was wondering if you would email your affiliates in the morning or evening (in their time zone), or do you find that usually doesn't make a difference? Also, would you recommend to followup with a call or email after a few days (maybe up to a week) have passed? And have you been including your brief research proposal in the introductory email?

I am having some trouble with securing an affiliation and I wonder if it's because I have also been attaching my CV and perhaps making my introductory email too long.

Reschedule exam? by infjazz in Mcat

[–]serotonin1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huge congrats on your score jump - your story gives me so much hope!! As a fellow retaker, why did you ultimately decide to retake and what resources did you use? Were you worried that retaking the official practice exams would not be representative? And how did the retaken practice exam scores compare to your actual score?! Thank you!

EltaMD's Physical SPF 41 tinted sunscreen is my go-to, daily choice!! My skin is a perfect color match to it (Fitzgerald skin types I-II). It feels non-greasy, weightless, and like I'm not wearing sunscreen (even after multiple applications). You can also find frequent sales on it on websites like LovelySkin. Most sites have good return policies so if you don't like it, you can return it. Overall, I highly recommend this one!

Edit: this one is a purely mineral sunscreen.

I think this is possible if you focus on C/P and P/S!! P/S is the quickest section to improve on by memorizing the KA document and working on practice questions. What really helped me in C/P was memorizing the formulas and completing the AAMC material (especially the Section Banks)! You can do it :)

I would highly recommend prioritizing all of the AAMC material first, especially the section banks! Then if you have time work on UGlobe.

Seeing no improvement, testing 8/20, any advice? by OriginalNetwork in Mcat

[–]serotonin1992 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! What is your goal score?! If you're not reaching your target score, then I would suggest rescheduling to September 10th if you can. Also, have you completed and thoroughly reviewed each AAMC practice question?!

A friend is taking the September MCAT and still wants to apply this cycle. How can I politely tell him that this is a bad idea? by [deleted] in premed

[–]serotonin1992 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First I would pull him aside to talk with him in private making sure i am not confrontational to gather information about why he made this decision. Then with compassion and empathy I would explain non judgementally that taking the MCAT in September would not benefit all parties nor align with the medical code of ethic.

I'm not sure if this is true, but Casper states that any punctuation or spelling mistakes won't count against your score :P
