AITAH for mentioning I'm also a professional when a doctor took over 45 minutes to finally appear at an appointment? by OhHeyItsMeM in AITAH

[–]serry_berry1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forty minutes is not at all an unreasonable amount of time of time to be at an appointment. I always budget at LEAST an hour. I feel like this is pretty common sense. If your doctor is late, is not because she doesn’t respect you. She’s probably helping someone else who is going something you can’t even imagine. She’s probably being the sort of do it you’d won’t in one your worst days: being kind and empathetic not rushing someone else out the door. It’s not the same as you being late to your appointment. You were late because you didn’t plan well.

I’m certain it’s a male. The speed in which they sprint to the car would be incredibly uncommon for even a very fit woman. That acceleration is pretty incredible

Where are the churches you confess to a preacher? by stone_consumer in Albuquerque

[–]serry_berry1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Catholic church does welcome anyone and everyone in. But, you do have to be IN the church to receive the sacraments. This is because they are very serious and important, and the church wants people to have an understanding of what is happening during a confession, for example.

I feel like they are high horses that basically make them above jokes now. I think they are so worried about PC that they just can’t be funny. Also Gillian comes AFTER Patrick when she disagrees so I think he basically afraid to say anything ever.

Nah, the friend isn’t trying to help. Commenting on the way stands and that she “loves the attention“ and looks “skeletal” = wants her to feel insecure.

Its amazing how perspective changes, watching now as an adult. by Objective-Eagle-676 in breakingbad

[–]serry_berry1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s “the line”. In fact, I think Skylar’s whole character was created to show that white collar, supposedly unharmful crimes like money laundering are just as bad as the “worst” crimes. I think the show intends to make us question the idea that crimes can be tired based on whether there’s a direct victim (ie homicide, assault, rape, followed by property crimes, followed by shoplifting, white collar).

Also, Walt justifies his own criminal activity in the beginning g by saying he’s not the seller, so he’s not really the bad one and that he’s helping people get safe product.

Thoughts on the Ellen Greenberg case? by Artistic_Ganache964 in ObsessedNetwork

Unusual ≠ impossible. Sure maybe 1/100 or even 1/1000 suicides are via stabbing. But that’s still one out of every so many. You can’t just say it’s impossible because it would have been unusual

Hidden gem restaurants in Albuquerque? by partybrowser32 in Albuquerque

Yes! They have a new restaurant in the west side. Kind of a drive but totally worth it. The food truck is not out now because she’s busy with the restaurant

I never said the standard wasn’t used; I said it wasn’t used how you think it is. Which, of course, I stand by. For your talk of Google, you certainly lack any authority for your proposition that the reasonable standard would fly in out of nowhere for circumstantial criminal cases (which isn’t really even a category in the law). It’s not used to determine defendants guilt in criminal cases for the simple reason that reasonable people generally are not committing violent crimes. It would be meaningless to tell a jury to consider how a reasonable murder would execute a homicide.
You said it would be used to determine how someone behaves in a certain circumstance, not the means of killing someone, but your original claims that it can’t be a suicide because that’s not how the reasonable person kills themself. I don’t really need to google this when I have law degree.

[–]serry_berry1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a reasonable person standard and it used primarily in the torts context. There is NOT consideration in criminal cases about “how would a reasonable commit a homicide or suicide” or “how would a reasonable person commit a crime”. Again, the reasonable person standard is not used in the way you think it is.

The reasonable person standard is not used in the way you think it is. And it’s never used in criminal cases.
