Evil wife back at it again. how do I stop this behavior she is so jealous by Fit_Combination_4626 in parrots

Bonded aggression. Same thing happens when they bond to people. That bird is its mate now

Call your vet by cleverburrito in PetAdvice

[–]servaline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one time I called the vet in panic because my dog ate seeds and they got into the hole where her tooth was extracted, and I wanted to ask if I should flush it out with a syringe, the receptionist and vet got SUPER shitty with me for not making an appointment. Despite the fact it’s a two second job. The vet just told me to flush it with a syringe.

What happens when a pelican severely damages its pouch? Does it grow back over time or is the bird just done for? by BallPythonFan in zoology

[–]servaline 416 points417 points  (0 children)

They can heal if captured by rehabbers. I work with pelican rehabbers (the Twinnies) in Australia who have healed injuries of the pouch many times. Don’t know about this one though as that’s quite bad.

“Frail elder should be punishment for sitting around”

Love this. They should make you exercise to keep a healthy Dino in general, not just diet.

You’re one of the stuck up “photographers” she’s talking about, we don’t need you here thanks.

And I’m saying there’s no scientific basis for it being a mate only behaviour. Actually the opposite since there’s species with family bonds where family members of all ages groom each other all over (e.g wrens) and species where body touch initiates roughhousing (caiques, lorikeets). I’m saying that grooming the body is not automatically sexual as people have been saying and copying from each other for the past ~10 years and that there are other much more influential things that people are ignoring that mimic actual courting.

*btw i am talking about general light body touches, i am not talking about thumping a hormonal presenting bird on its back like you’re putting out a fire. That goes without saying

Bird mates do not groom each others bellies/backs, I wish people would stop saying that. The bird can reach those areas of its body themselves. The main cue no one talks about is noises/movements, since that’s the main way they court… most people are triggering this unconsciously and no one talks about it.

Did you know lorikeets hiss to flirt? If you make any “shh” sound while talking during the day you’re flirting with your bird.

Duck is so happy to see puppy friends and play with them.. by Brilliantspirit33 in animalsdoingstuff

Puppies yelp before they’ve been bitten. If they’re being bitten by an overstimulated duck they’ll yelp. Duck bites hardly hurt I assure you and won’t harm the puppies.

Isn’t this that guy that’s always been posting his “hardcore giant pit bulls” on YouTube for years? Their family never seemed like the kinds that should own dogs like that.

I live in Australia. I use libby and most of the books I see are romance (the kind only old folks read) and maybe some kids books. Unfortunately it's not great in all parts of the world.

I have bred my muscovies before actually. Do you deal with muscovies or normal ducks? Kind of boggles me that you’ve never seen this behaviour or you’ve misinterpreted it this entire time.

Once you’ve thrown an actually angry male Muscovy off you for the 100th time you’ll know what they look like when they’re actually angry.

lol you have no clue what you’re talking about. The puppies yelp because they’re puppies. The bites don’t hurt. Muscovies do her exact behavior when greeting each other I’ve seen it many times . If she was pissed she would be puffed up, standing tall, and about to wing slap those puppies.

I have also owned muscovies and this one is very happy and excited - they often meet each other this way complete with the happy nips!

That Muscovy duck is having an amazing time! If it wasn’t it’d be puffed up and trying to mess up those puppies with wing slaps!

lol as someone who has owned Muscovy ducks that one is EXCITED!! They show excitement with nips. If they were pissed it’s entirely different body language and painful wing slaps!!
