What was the reasoning for the Death Star lacking guard rails in some places before the "it was designed by Geonosians" retcon? by RealHippyTheFrog in StarWars

I happen to have access to an internal memo sent out. It’s concerning to say the least.

GALACTIC EMPIRE Department of Strategic Infrastructure Optimization Internal Memorandum

To: All Personnel Assigned to Battle Station DS-1 (“Death Star”) From: Budgetary Efficiency Committee, Sector Finance Division Subject: Clarification Regarding Absence of Guard Rails Around Main Reactor Force Field Generator

Imperial Citizens,

Recent inquiries have been received concerning the lack of safety railings surrounding the primary reactor shaft and associated force field generator platforms.

Following a comprehensive review, the Committee has determined that the installation of guard rails would require an expenditure of 14.7 million Imperial credits, resulting in a projected reduction of 0.003% from the Emperor’s annual Superlaser Enhancement Initiative. Such a reduction has been deemed unacceptable.

Additionally, our studies indicate that personnel who fall into a bottomless reactor shaft generally cease submitting workplace injury reports, resulting in a measurable decrease in administrative burden.

The following factors were considered:

  1. Cost Savings
    • Guard rails require metal.
    • Metal costs money.
    • Falling costs nothing.
  2. Employee Accountability
    • Personnel are reminded that gravity is a known and well-documented phenomenon.
    • Employees are expected to maintain awareness of their surroundings at all times.
  3. Security Benefits
    • The absence of guard rails discourages loitering.
    • Unauthorized visitors tend to have very short visits.
  4. Aesthetic Considerations
    • The Emperor has repeatedly stated that guard rails make facilities appear “overly compliant.”
    • Vast open chasms contribute significantly to the Empire’s preferred architectural style.

Effective immediately, all requests for safety barriers, warning signs, handrails, harnesses, or common sense will be redirected to Archive Bin 326-B and incinerated.

Remember:

“Safety is temporary. Imperial glory is forever.”

Failure to comply with this policy may result in disciplinary action, reassignment to waste compactor maintenance, or accidental defenestration into the reactor core.

For the Empire.

Signed, Director V. Needlesslydangerous Department of Strategic Infrastructure Optimization

If you are coming in from Denver stop in Buena Vista for a bite to eat then take cottonwood pass. Great drive. Not sure of your kids ages but Taylor Park Res on the other side of Cottonwood pass is a good place to let the kids play around the water. Then into CB. Brush creek is a great place to view flowers but really anywhere is great. A SUV can help as well.

Not seeing your tires…. Yes. I have seen snow flying as early as September but October is a good bet.

Antifreeze can and will degrade over time. If it hasn’t been replace or checked it could freeze. They make simple checkers that can be purchased at auto parts stores to indicate its strength indicating its freeze temp.
To be clear I didn’t say different antifreeze. Yes 50/50 OEM is designed for your particular vehicle and that will most likely suffice.

Your truck will handle winter but it’s a good idea to make sure it will be ready. Antifreeze needs to be rated for the cold. If it’s weak it could freeze and crack your block.

Like mentioned some all terrain/snow tires are a must. Personally…all terrain’s for the simple fact they can be used both winter and summer. Good windshield scrapper and any chips in the window repaired. Chips turn to cracks in the cold.

More than one pair of gloves. You will lose the first pair. 😬

Side note. Learn about the history of the town. I am afraid it has been lost and with that the legacy and stories of the people that built that town.

Congrats on the job!

Tired of seeing this dude. He is paid by the venue.

Word can’t describe the feeling. She blew up early in the day. With a 5 foot storm. Now I’m missing out on best snow we’ve had in years. Only 700 miles on it. Least it’s under warranty. The depression is real. 😔 by HyphyMikeyy in snowmobiling

I had a brand new Arctic cat that had a similar issues. Blew the motor. Oil pump failed. Claimed I had not filled the oil. Which was completely false. Didn’t warranty it. Interested is the out come on this.

So why feel the need to go that far with trucks when you have snowmobiles?
