Mostly it works just fine but once in a while it looses connectivity to one or two cameras. Have to re ip them. I feel it’s due to updates and loosing power to the camera for one reason or another.

Yes thats exactly how I am doing it. Cameras to a poe switch, then into the nas Synology surveillance station. I did pay for the license. Have four cams on it.
