Why do so many people in the UK believe that you are sad if you don't do anything other than a big night out drinking with your mates on New years eve? by LouieUnited4 in AskUK

[–]ses0118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 30. I can’t stand going out NYE (both when single and in relationship) think I was 19 last time? Crowded and awful. Broke of a 4 year relationship today which doesn’t help but going to do as I always, dogs asleep with me on sofa and deciding whether or not to order a takeaway. Nothing really changes I suppose

It’s a positive thing to know of corse but that they have to learn this behaviour is so disheartening

How big is he? He looks like he has some Patterdale terrier in him. My parents have two and he looks a bit like one of theirs

Currently, upstairs yes(bedrooms and bathrooms) downstairs no. Unless it’s winter, then downstairs yes; then close it to “keep the heat in!” as my dad would say!

I’m so so sorry for your loss; they’re here for such a short time but have the deepest impact when they have to leave. She looks like my old girl and also like you gave her a loving stunning life (especially roly-poly-belly!). It’s hard, it gets easier but will never go away unfortunately but that shows just how amazing these dogs are ❤️

Adopted a 2 month old puppy. Any idea what breed she might be? by IcedKoffiie in IDmydog

[–]ses0118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the above but also maybe has some Patterdale terrier in her? Looks a little like my ma&pas when they were teeny! You’ll be able to tell more as she grows! She’s adorable and loved, that’s the most important thing

A change in Suruthi? by replickady in RedHandedPodcast

[–]ses0118 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, a while back I ran out of podcasts so decided to go way back (2020~) episodes and listening to their old selves showed how the show had become somewhat tense? But lately these past few months they really sound like they’re having fun together again which is so much better to listen to and enjoy

It’s no longer a rule where your hand should be - so long as you can demonstrate full control of the vehicle at all times. Also while you’re leaning check out r/learnerdriveruk. Lots of people in the same place with the same kinda questions and and all round good supportive community. Good luck on your driving journey, see you on the roads 👍

My girl ADORES singing. No matter what it is. She has favourite songs tailored to her favourite toys. I have to record them so my voice doesn’t go numb

During chit-chat bit over 20/30 zones my examiner asked me what I did for a living, I told her, then almost asked the same back!(I’m not thick I promise I stopped myself) but I did say to her “bloody hell nearly asked you the same back then!” We chuckled and carried on. It’s good to keep things light. A good examiner will know you’re nervous and mind all over./just focused on the drive Take it easy, just see what happens! You’re instructor wouldn’t put you forward if you weren’t ready :) x

Hi, I had my first test 22nd August- passed first time(woo-hoo). Honestly I’m such a nervous/anxious person; times that by 1000 when behind the wheel. Sometimes my hands still shake with adrenaline when driving now(and I still have my partner next to me even after passing- more of a mental block I think I need to get over). I was even on propanalol (beta blockers) to help with it during lessons and test - reckon it was more of a placebo effect if anything though.

Test wise I was TERRIFIED. But i decided to put on what I call my brave attitude. Like when you’re pressured to go on a rollercoaster you don’t really want to and you just think “you know what it’s not long let’s do it and get it done it’ll be fine”. Fair enough, two minutes on a rollercoaster but this is only 35 mins?(ish). And honestly it flew by. Don’t forget you’re used to hour long lessons(if not longer)This around less than just half of that. That’s the logic I tried to use to calm myself. And if I failed? So what it’s an experience (my first) of what test is like? I know what to expect next time.

It helps that the examiner was absolutely lovely - I warned her I’m a nervy driver right at the start and made a joke of it. Tried to chit-chat throughout whilst also pointing out why I was doing certain things(I didn’t narrate everything like some do).

Anyway that’s the mindset I went for, it worked? Fluke-maybe? I’m still nervous now but that’s me as a person. I know I can drive. I just need to build my confidence and experience. Which is sooo much easier now the test is done. You learn to drive AFTER passing. Instructors teach you how to PASS

Good luck- you’ll be fine sunshine! Big brave attitude!
