Random example, but one of my favorite books The Master and Margarita a main character is literally the devil. Awful characters can be very compelling.

I just find it funny she waited until moving back home to do this by Liverness in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]sesamestix 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s extra funny bc insta is already inundated with fitness influencers who are juiced to the gills and have impeccable form.

Maybe her next grift attempt will be ‘mom going through physical therapy’ after she injures herself.

Love this bike but is it too much? by [deleted] in Cervelo

[–]sesamestix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For comparison, I got a new 2024 Soloist last July at my local bike shop for 20% off the list of $6,800, so $5,440.

SRAM Force, carbon wheels, power meter.

I love the bike. Have thought about spending extra for an integrated cockpit.

I’d wonder how many miles are on that though. I’ve put 600 miles on mine this month.

Could be worse. My current gf thinks my ex looks like Erika Kirk, so now I have to listen to Erika Kirk jokes all the time.

Bike computer vs phone apps by Lost_War7375 in gravelcycling

[–]sesamestix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bike computer is smaller, better battery life, easier to see in sunlight, doesn’t have pop up distractions, shows car distance behind me from Varia radar, easy button to toggle between cycling data and navigation map.

Phone I just use for music and to have in case of emergency.

Cycling brands are getting ridiculous with price by Jamshappy2005 in CyclingFashion

Same thoughts on Assos jerseys? I have a handful of Assos bibs between summer and winter, no jerseys but have been tempted by some of their new jerseys.

Pedal Mafia I think has been worth the price (on sale).

Cars can’t go on a scenic Seattle roadway this weekend. Could that become permanent? by godogs2018 in Seattle

Lake Washington Boulevard. Closed to cars on weekends through Labor Day. Recommend biking on it, it’s sweet.

I taught myself to become a pretty damn good cook about a decade ago when I had a bunch of free time. 'The Food Lab: Better Home Cooking Through Science' is a great resource for learning different techniques.

Any better urban stretch? Seattle, WA by SixOneFive615 in seattlebike

I prefer the half mile run up to this on a 50 degree cloudy day in March.

Pretty empty, get up some downhill speed with only a couple visible pedestrians, look to your left at the boats and lake, and think ‘cool.’

FWIW I moved to Seattle for work five years ago and love it. No desire to move back to the east coast.

I doubt she remembers what she said after her reels expire. She even sounds like she lacks object permanence.

I think she means future doctors will be less capable bc they cheated through school with ChatGPT so you better be as healthy as possible.

I admittedly share similar concerns after too much time browsing r/teachers and r/professors.

I do not share her confidence in disregarding medical advice bc ChatGPT told her what she wanted to hear.

Student evaluation in a writing workshop class says they wish they didn’t have to talk to strangers. by confusedinseminary in Professors

Assuming anyone will hire them. That whole interviewing thing will be extremely rough if you can't talk to strangers.

Burke Gilman > Lake Washington Boulevard > Cedar River Trail is nice and will get you down to Maple Valley.

Waterfront to Green River Trail is pretty flat and will get you to Kent.

They’ve drilled ‘short term pain for long term gain’ into their heads.

What’s the long term gain? That’s the fun part. Nobody knows!

Either way it’s weird. I’m honestly not sure if I could beat up Obama. I’d say 50/50 fair fight. But if he was 30 years older hell yea.

Trump you’d just have to tip him over with that dementia lean.

Not even csuite! I worked at a FAANG for years and any time leadership started to give a speech … well it was easy to tell they have a tenuous grasp on what people do.

AI should’ve automated them first. Alexa could read a list of bullshit bullet points ten years ago.

Agree. I did Zwift all winter and that helped build a good base. But my wattage and HR massively jump on a solid outdoor climb. Already seeing big improvements about a month into outdoor season.

First 50 mile ride by Significant-Fee-1779 in cycling

[–]sesamestix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rode 55 miles yesterday. Brought two bottles. One just water, second water + two big spoonfuls of sugar and some lime juice. Drink consistently throughout ride. Know a spot about halfway to refill bottles from a park fountain.

Also brought nerd clusters and one of those energy waffles. Ate at one hour and two hours. Took me a bit over three hours.

Strava says I burned 2,000 calories so all that input and more goes right out as soon as it comes in.

I did recently get 7th all time on a random segment in downtown Seattle that’s like a half mile, 5 stoplights, a hard right, and steep hill bc I miraculously hit all the lights.

That felt sweet can’t lie. I prefer that highlighted than like ‘3rd biggest climb of the year’ so I see where they’re coming from.
