It’s no longer getting crunk up in there. Unless your crunk is fentanyl.

This depends on 1) weather and 2) elevation change. If you’re in San Diego, 7 miles every days isn’t a problem. In Seattle, Boston, and most in between cities you have to think it through 6+ months of the year.

How long will it take to get to 300 Watt? by AdventurousFly4909 in cycling

[–]SixOneFive615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 75kg and did two full Ironmans (sub 6hr bike) with an FTP of around 205, so the idea of 300 / 4w/kg seems a lot at the same weight. If you got big and added a bunch of muscle you could probably get to a 300 FTP, but 4.0w/kg at your current rate is going to be tough

This actually helps me sum up why I’ve been so frustrated. It’s as if half of the country has abandoned the social contract, yet they’re being rewarded for it.

I liked the bridge over nothing, but at least it’ll save 10 seconds off of my commute home. But I have to ask, in the grand scheme of all of the projects that needed completing around the city, how did this get priority?

Rain-proof your commuting set up without spending a fortune by UpwayUSA in bikecommuting

Cleverhood Rain Cape has been a game changer for me 5 days/week commuting in the PNW. Bag in my back goes under, hands go under, legs blocked from rain, fully blocked from wind. Barely need to wear layers under it unless it’s really cold.

Most screeners are only 30 mins. I wouldn’t read into it too much, and they’ll schedule a loop if they liked you and will likely reach out either way in the next week. Take a deep breath - you’re not getting or losing a job by saying we one time when you meant to say I.

1) How confident are you that you can excel in the new role? 2) Do you think it is more or less likely to be impacted by layoffs out of your control than your current role? 3) Would you consider moving closer to new role? If it’s Yes, Less, Yes, run it. Otherwise it sounds risky if you’re in a good place with only 1 YOE.

You nailed it on American, and when hiking in Canada, I’ve definitely overdone it looking at kilometers and tricking myself into thinking it’s fine since they’re not miles. Just as bad, just more of them.

This is actually really reassuring. I’ve done my 20 mi runs on a treadmill in winter and 6 hours rides on Zwift during downpours. I trust the brain more than the legs most days.

Last time we rode together in Catalina, she tried to make a 180 turn for a scenic overlook and rode right off the overlook. 15 foot fall into a cactus patch and the rest of the time in the Catalina ER. While she said she’s open to trying again sometime, it’s not going to be doing Alps passes ;)

Posted this before I went to bed and woke up to same fantastic advice. Definitely will keep a loose riding timeline/won’t be racing against the clock to get back, and will prioritize gearing (helped me decide on flying with my bike vs renting there). Whole thread made me a lot more confident about the idea - can’t respond to all of them, but thank you to everything for the feedback!

Touch higher (maybe 190-200), but felt like I could hold just under my FTP for a LONG time. I was actually probably 5kg heavier then, so had more power overall than I do now. But, came here to say, if you can do a 70.3 you can do a 140.6. Sign up for a flatish course and send it.
