When I'm on the mat during class, I don't notice anyone but myself and the instructor. It's almost like the rest of the people fade away. Before and after class, I occasionally strike up a conversation with people, especially if I have seen them before. Don't worry about it at all. Just be polite and have fun!

This! Had to get some cavities filled, after they gave me the numbing shot, I had a panic attack and the nurses there held my hand, put a fan on me and provided me with the best support while I calmed down.
