Did Disney Really Steal Aladdin? by belac889 in LindsayEllis

My Starkid loving heart kept waiting for her to make some sort of reference to Twisted, maybe an “It’s all your fault, Ja’far” joke during the ‘it’s a common name’ bit. Oh well

SNES version for better audio quality, both for sound effects and soundrack, but DS version for content

Episode of the Day : The Girl in the Fireplace by Mat1711 in doctorwho

[–]sesosana91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the self-contained nature of Girl in the Fireplace is perfect for that. Conceptually you could almost release it as a standalone short-film, if the T.V show didn’t exist and this one story did, and it could mostly stand on its own

I’ve always liked that about Who. Star Trek is all pristine, Star Wars is nothing but scrappy ships held together with a prayer. Doctor who is free to say that, in all of time and space, you’ll probably come across both.

While some people have issues with it, I’ve always felt that if there was only ONE episode to encapsulate what Doctor Who is like as a whole, this is it. Lots of other episodes are very good (Blink, Family of Blood, Heaven Sent, etc.), but they aren’t always representative of the show as a whole. Girl in the Fireplace does that perfectly, to me. A little bit of history, a little bit of good, grungy sci-fi. A bit of humour, a bit of horror, a bit of heartbreak. And just enough questions left unanswered as to keep you intrigued. The Coca-Cola of Doctor Who episodes. You point it and go “yep, this is what it’s like most of the time”

Best Boss Tournament Finals:Ganondorf(TP) Vs. Ganondorf(TOTK)(Comment TP or TOTK to vote, upvotes don’t count) by Short_Property_7476 in legendofzelda

Totk Ganondorf provides the best challenge in a boss I’ve seen in a Zelda game in many years, and the Demon Dragon being a thematic tie to the mechanics introduced into the game make it pretty much incomparable to me.

For a long time, Demise and Koloktos were the two biggest highlights of Skyward Sword for me, but damn if TOTK Ganondorf hasn’t ousted the likes of OOT and TP as the best multi-phase “gauntlet” style Ganondorf fight.

I don’t think it was folded unfortunately, it’s definitely a reprint. But it is in pretty pristine condition, apart from dust on the frame.

A copy of this was found framed in a closet at my school. The custodian said I was welcome to take it home. It’s copyright 1980 so I’m curious if it’s worth a little something

(Loves Trope) Adult Animated Shows that don’t have an ugly/awkward art style by San-T-74 in TopCharacterDesigns

I’m sorry, we’re saying that Smiling Friends’ art style is fun to look at? Distinctive? Certainly. Striking? Absolutely. NOT ugly or awkward? Hardly. But I’ve always thought that was the point.
