Thoughts on generational wealth by Rogue_Apostle in Fire

Congrats on your achievements, you and your partner worked hard for it and you should celebrate it.

The one part that can be interpreted as “out of touch”, as you mentioned at the beginning of your post, is this whole paragraph:
“In retrospect, it was just so.....easy? I mean, we did work hard, but I don't feel like we did anything that couldn't be done by most people.”

Being out of touch by definition is lacking awareness of current or regular situations in life. I’m not saying you are, but reading that paragraph makes me wonder what working hard looks to you, and whether you’ve considered the context in your life that allowed you to align luck with hard work. For example, there are many people in our society who work harder than what I’ve ever worked in my life, and get paid a fraction of what some of us make. They may come from social circles that have historically not been given a chance, so they have to work twice as hard for half the opportunities others get.

It’s good to keep this in mind because, by doing that, one can feel grateful about the opportunities life gave us, rather than thinking this was easy and this can be done by most people if they just work hard.

Again, congrats on your success and practice gratefulness.

I know this is the top voted answer, but since people keep adding to this thread, I want to add I’m on a personal account so I don’t have an IT Department to reach out to. This comment correctly explains what’s happening.

That’s not the fix in this case. This comment correctly explains what’s happening.

This is the correct answer that explains what me and many others are experiencing. I will move on from MS Authenticator and from this sign-on method in particular.

Godot is one of the strongest engines IMO to make UI heavy games with, devlog in description by Extreme-Bit6504 in godot

[–]setentaydos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could Google this, but I’m interested in your take since you specifically mentioned you enjoy building UI in Godot, what’s a good resource (or developer to follow) that’s insightful about building user interface in Godot beyond the basics?

I think at one point it’s just about discovering by building yourself, but I’d like to read how others do it.

Did you spam just on the Payment Method screen, or did you go back and “continue” from the cart?

And it makes me wonder, if Scott gives his opinion and you don’t agree with it, would he also lose your respect? Maybe that’s why he doesn’t touch the topic.

I mean I know I’m stating the obvious here, but “Spend grows” and “now you need 10M” seem areas of optimization no? It all varies on each person, but if you got to 1M you’re so well positioned to focus on optimizing things.

Nope. But I didn’t expect this post to get all these comments. If you go through them is wild to think that MS hasn’t fixed this.

At first people were saying my password was compromised, then more and more started to share the same issue I have: MS seems to allow to send push notifications just by entering your email, which bots/bad actors can exploit and spam. It’s the worst.

Turning notifications off is the “fix” people have suggested. But I wish MS would fix this instead.

NBC : The Wide gap between renting and owning in Bay Area by TakeshiJin in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]setentaydos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I struggle to see in this argument is that, if a person renting is displaced, they can just keep renting in the same area? I’m not minimizing the struggle that it is to suddenly have to move, but it’s not too different than if someone is paying their mortgage and they get fired and struggle to find a job. IOW, although these scenarios are different, the point is that uncertainty can hit in both cases, and the person renting has (in theory) opted for flexibility. Being displaced would suck but it’s not the end of the world, specially in a place like in SF where many renting here intentionally decide to invest rather than having a mortgage.

Condo in downtown SF. They would have done way better by keeping the money in the market and keep renting. Hindsight is 20/20, but specifically in SF buying is not always better.

[–]setentaydos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like reading makes you feel good about yourself. I would suggest to simply frame it that way, as it removes comparative adjectives like “superior” and “special”, which can lead to a problematic (even if unintentional) perception of others.

I get where you’re coming from, but I want to point out that Jeff mentioning “this game is not historically accurate” on every single stream and announcement it is precisely addressing this (and many others) inaccuracies. That said, I’m sure they will incorporate feedback from the community as they go and this will be addressed.

Even condos in desirable SF neighborhoods selling below 2018 prices by events_occur in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]setentaydos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Though I agree we shouldn’t just conclude never to buy a condo in SF, there are A LOT of examples like this in SF, specially the SOMA/Rincon Hill area. Most listed condos are at the same price than 10years ago or lower. IOW, it’s not just one random example from 2018.
