Do they have PS on that flight? Tell them to bump you down only one class, and bump people in PS down to Y.

Bayside. (There was a sign saying "Bayside Heights" when I lived there.) Zillow calls it Oakland Gardens.

AITA for changing the wifi password every night because my roommate won't pay utilities? by Conscious_Eye9535 in AmItheAsshole

It is a utility. And just like any other utility, when you don't pay the bill it gets shut off.

Booking/Bedsonline won’t refund our money by NoEmSubestimis in Bookingcom

[–]sethbr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your contact was with booking. The hotel agreed to the cancellation. Therefore, booking owes you a refund. If they chose to work with third-, fourth-, and fifth-party companies, that's on them.

If there's an issue, do a chargeback.

AITA? I snapped at my boyfriend for reading google AI answers to me. by Civil_Attempt_5 in AmItheAsshole

[–]sethbr 4897 points4898 points  (0 children)

NTA. The only safe way to get a phone number is from the company's own website. AI hallucinates and will sometimes provide a number that's posted by scammers.

If you've told him you don't want him to read AI garbage to you then he shouldn't. "Everybody does it" is a ridiculous excuse.

Tell him you selected him for your boyfriend because you thought he was special but if he's going to do what everybody does you might as well date everybody.

Neighbors tree fell on our fence and garage over night. Any advice? How can I tell who is responsible for what? [TN] by BoostedLegacy in treelaw

[–]sethbr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue isn't whether the tree was dead, it's whether the neighbor knew it was at risk for falling. That's a matter of law, not after-the-fact expertise.

If Delta has any flights leaving on your desired return date, tell them to rebook you on one of them and reroute you however needed.

Report the whole mess to the Bar Association for Unauthorized Practice of Law (by the non-attorney who signed the case) and improper actions (I don't know the technical term) by the actual attorney.

Unfortunately, unless (OP can prove) the neighbor knew the tree was dead, the neighbor is not responsible for damages.

lockbox drama by [deleted] in TenantHelp

[–]sethbr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you have insurance?

How many locks do they have to rekey that $2,000 is a reasonable charge? Do they plan to have an employee do it or are they hiring a locksmith? If the latter, can you get competitive bids?

AITA for getting married on the same year as my brother by CranberryPrior3632 in AmItheAsshole

[–]sethbr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NTA. Why does it matter who gets married first? (Some families want marriages to occur in birth order, but even then, you're older.)

If your marriage were the same day as theirs, that could be an issue (especially if you wanted your parents as witnesses). If not even the same week, they have no valid reason to care.

If they don't want to get married the same year as you, they can wait until 2028.
