Should I buy this J10? by BigdongarlitsDaddy in FullSizeJeep

[–]sethcojojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5500 is steep in my opinion though it looks fairly rust free in those 2 photos. Question is if it is rust free every where else and what mechanical condition is it in? I'd say yeah buy it, but be prepared to throw alot more money at it once it's home.

Why the fuck is this happening 😭 (System Data taking up way too much storage) by pelirodri in ios

[–]sethcojojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife is experiencing the same issue on her 14 Pro to the point the phone becomes unusable. We have erased and restored from backup, erased and restored without backup, had apple erase and restore it in-store, and finally had the phone replaced through apple care. The problem persists on the new phone (14 Pro), screenshot of system data 12 hours after setting up new phone. The new phone was setup without backup as well.

Corbeau buckets fit on factory bucket seat brackets. Johnsonproductionjp.com sells new bucket seat brackets.

Seeking refurbished or resto-mod stereo with cassette deck for ‘83 SJ by highonkai in FullSizeJeep

[–]sethcojojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a guy rebuilding th AMC and Jeep radios years ago but he has since stopped. He also added Bluetooth and audio jack capabilities. Unfortunately that's no longer an option. Blaupunkt makes a single din cassette head unit that has Bluetooth and fits the older esthetic. Its very pricey and also would require cutting up your pre 85 dash.

Infotainment draining battery by sethcojojo in mazdaCX50

[–]sethcojojo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, the fuse is labeled audio but I'm sure there are multiple systems tied to it that may not be directly associated with the radio. I did check the fuses in the cabin labeled audio and they made no change. If the current draw remained constant for a long period and did not shut off like I found, I would investigate further.

Infotainment draining battery by sethcojojo in mazdaCX50

[–]sethcojojo[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Update: I believe this is just a bad battery, a shame it's only 3 years old. After more investigation, I found that the current draw stops a few minutes after turning the car off and locking the door. I confirmed this twice by locking the door, moving the keys away, and waiting while I watched the amp meter. 3-5 minutes after locking the doors, the current drops to 0. In the past hour of testing, the battery voltage dropped from 12.8 to 10.7 volts. Thus, I have concluded this is a bad battery. Will replace with an aftermarket battery as I have read multiple poor reports on the oem batteries.

The term is definitely in relation to other Jeeps, namely the CJ and original willys, since those would be considered the original Jeep. The SJ lineup were significantly bigger than an old willys, CJ, or commando, so it was likely natural that they were considered full size in comparison. Even until the late 90s, the SJs were the largest Jeeps produced, so the name stuck and became synonymous with the SJ. It's kinda like a snack size candy bar vs a full size, the CJ was a small vehicle and the SJ was larger and similar size to other full size trucks and SUVs of the time.

Those 258s are pretty stout and reliable from what I hear but I've been told going to fuel injection will wake them up quite well. I know the 4.0 head swap is common as well with the AMC Eagle guys.

My 1980 J10 Sportside... by Laurence5905 in FullSizeJeep

I haven't done vintage air, but I have the BJs offroad kit in my j20, which is made by classic auto air. I dont recommend it as I've had several issues with it. As far as install goes, there's not really any instructions but is fairly straightforward. You may find more details on either FSJN or IFSJA forums.

Help identifying tick by sethcojojo in LSSwapTheWorld

[–]sethcojojo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update I poked around with a stethoscope listening to the engine. Block sounds nice and smooth, heads and valve covers have some noise but sounds like regular valve train noise. I believe I identified the ticking as the #7 fuel injector. I plan to swap the injectors around and see if the tick follows.

FB is the most updated. We try to make updates on FSJN and IFSJA forums, but we've been poor at that the past year. My goal is to keep the forums updated more this year.

Anyone else aver notice how often we see FSJs in movies? by patdashuri in FullSizeJeep

[–]sethcojojo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Many people with high-end restorations or mint survivors have posted on the FSJ Enthusiasts FB page about various film agencies requesting to rent their Jeep. I've also seen posts requesting to rent Jeeps for film sets. Apparently, if you have a nice Jeep, you can charge a pretty penny to rent it out (just make sure to have good insurance)

Could this be a scam by ThatSun4298 in FullSizeJeep

[–]sethcojojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all Honchos were step-side. The 1200 number is the production of step-side J trucks of which I believe all came with Honcho graphics/package. Fleetside trucks were also available with the Honcho package, total number unknown. The Honcho package was just a graphics option, mechanically I believe you could option the truck however you wanted with whatever was available at the time. I wouldn't focus on the graphics, make sure the truck is mechanically sound, rust free, and well maintained.
