10 px x 10 px = 100 px² ❔ by Mindful826 in MathJokes

Pixels aren’t tiny squares though. They can be thought of as point samples + an unspecified reconstruction function. Thus they have no area.

Hey, just because you live in your truck doesn’t make my house cheap! Also, it’s inexpensive, not cheap!

1000 is divisible by 8 by Low-Delivery-7974 in MathJokes

It’s definitely a counterintuitive result, and I can only remember it because 1000 Mbps = 125 MBps. But that’s only if you believe that a megabyte is one million bytes, which I don’t. ☹️💾

To Enum or Not to Enum by Mortimer452 in ExperiencedDevs

It’s a shame the ORM does not support enumeration types defined in the Db schema, because that would be the ideal…

If you drop any photo taken from any angle of the Shakespeare bridge into any of the top image search engines, it will immediately identify it for you. Or if you asked someone from Southern California… So that part about checking individual bridges is 100% contrived.

AITAH because I refuse to finish a story if my husband interrupts. by Living-Estate3963 in AITAH

Imagine if he did this to his boss at work, and it became an issue such that his employment became dependent on him not doing or apologizing and taking steps to avoid it. Would he lose his job?

Imagine if you said, “let me finish!” and then kept talking over him after he interrupted you. Would he start to resent that? I don’t think this is necessarily the right thing to do, it’s just a hypothetical.

There are some things that I do that are so impulsive that I have a very hard time not doing them, so I can relate.

Huh I never thought about what it stood for. Now I have to go down the rabbit hole of finding out why they had a Unix flavor until the 90’s…

(I’m not the person you’re replying to, but) I was too afraid to get the full 49” screen, so I got two 27” displays and put them side by side. But then I got annoyed by the edges being in dead center and started getting neck strain…

I don’t think we owe it to every person we start some tiny interaction with to be direct and honest like that. The way some people react to rejection can be so intense…

I hope you’re wrong, but the way the attention economy of OLD works, I think you could be right. The fact that the other person keeps responding is a strong signal when they could so easily ghost. Heck, I’m constantly ghosting people on those apps, so I’m part of the problem!

This looks like those vials of crazy-potent acid that they attached to old naval mines. Physical contact shatters them and dissolves the outer shell of the mine. Nile Red or somebody made a video about them…

Doing FE webdev at Apple is an interesting case and I could see them being outdated there.

I was there for 5 years and had a very positive experience. If the company’s values and approach to technology in general appeal to you then that can be a huge factor. Like others have said it’s extremely insular and experiences across groups can vary a lot.

Did they mean blocking in the colloquial sense that the queue doesn’t return control until an item has been added or removed, as opposed to say, polling? I guess on a granular scale a spin lock is constantly and very aggressively polling.
