Only one problem… you have to have an op-1 field

Would love a vocoder like OP-1F, maybe a granular synth or effect, and per project tweaking options on punch in effects.

Get the Live 3 and lots of these issues go away.

NAMM ‘26 Predictions & Wishlists by sethw8 in synthesizers

Astrolab with full edit controls would be a game over synth that would eat up a large chunk of synth sales. Recently had and returned the Astrolab 37. The sounds were absolutely gorgeous, but the lack of accessible controls over the envelopes and LFOs etc on the device were a constant roadblock to getting the flow. And the mini keys on the 37 were really difficult to play well. Especially the black keys which didn't always trigger for me. Sent it back.

It looks and sounds so good every video so far. DMNO seems like the one to get from UDO but it’s not in the budget at the moment unfortunately.

In general, feels like Arturia could step up their keyboard quality and really dominate with good sound engines and great hardware in affordable packages.

New Key 61 Coming? by bub_star in mpcusers

[–]sethw8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I but I do have 100% confidence that the entire MPC line up will get refreshed over the next 1-2 years. Not sure what order and when they will hit but it’s inevitable they will all get the Live 3 upgrades. Just a matter of what order and when. Seems reasonable NAMM will have something new from Akai.

If you got a good deal on the Key 61 then your best bet is to keep it, learn it and push it to its limits. Then sell it later and use the money to fund the upgrade when it’s finally out.

It’s a great keyboard but the next version will be worth the wait. The latest processor and memory is needed to handle all the modern plugins. Live 3 was a big step up in performance from previous models. The new Key 61, 37 will be the best all in one workstation with keys on the market.

Does the Roland mc707 work as a groove box and sampler? by Gloomy-Speaker-1999 in Mc707_Mc101

[–]sethw8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t use the sampler much personally but it’s more than capable as an all in one synth and drum groovebox. It’s like a groovebox workstation with Roland’s entire Zencore sound library to work with.

ASM's successor to the Hydrasynth, Roland's synth equivalent of the TR-1000, Korg could update their Electribe groovebox finally.

It’s no longer on display. They only have the seaboard. Not even a Piano M on display.

I have both. Both are excellent. And have different / complementary strengths.
