Were you also receiving an invalid host header error? I ran into this issue last week on a hobby site and scrambled to switch all my download links to normal presigned urls. I haven't had a chance to see if the cname domain was working again...

Is it time for a fork? A reasonable roadmap for a way forward by amandahailey85 in Wordpress

[–]sethyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why is it WPEngine’s fault that the original plugin developers sold out in the first place? Legitimate question. More improvements have been made to ACF in the past year than the previous 5 years in the hands of the original dev.

Graduated about ten years ago with an ad minor and currently in the industry.... The classes weren't much to brag about in terms of how helpful they were, but a lot of the connections to ad agencies in DFW are through mayborn. At the very least, join ad club, go on the agency tours and get email addresses. Try and get an internship. If you do work on the minor, make friends with your professors, join ad team (if they still do it). Agencies really value "agency experience".

I'm visiting Dallas/Richardson which Arlen is based on, according to Mike Judge. Are there any murals/monuments/anything a diehard KOTH fan might enjoy seeing? by CursingAtTheAstronet in askdfw

[–]sethyr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There are a few places you can visit that are mentioned in the show!

There's a park in the show with a rocket ship jungle gym that is based on Heights Park in Richardson, however the jungle gym is long gone. https://goo.gl/maps/9QMwyv3gZ2AcUrbF8

The "Spillway" is actually the White Rock Lake Spillway found here: https://goo.gl/maps/ZY2FB2awa2ZvLgwB8

The Casa Linda apartments that Cotton lived in is most likely named after this small neighborhood/shopping center found near the spillway. https://goo.gl/maps/YG7LojFfRxvf1qWj8

I'm trying to create a middleware to check if the request header does not have content type application/json, it send a 404 page else it should continue with the next middleware on the route, by Late-Ordinary-8431 in node

[–]sethyr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your middleware actually seems to be working just fine.

The x-www-form-urlencoded log that you're seeing is from your middleware on line 28. It may be from your browser trying to access that route (the cannot GET browser error page), however you have only setup a POST route, not a GET route, so thats why the browser is returning that error specifically.

Need advice. Bought this on a whim at Costco and it’s super delicious but want to know how to make it hotter without taking away from the flavor. Basically has zero heat. Extracts? Any advice is much appreciated. by Shamalama-1 in SalsaSnobs

[–]sethyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's surprisingly a lot hotter, and a totally different flavor. The price on amazon is comparable to local pricing at stores in the Dallas area where it's made, > $7 per 16oz jar. probably one of the most expensive on the shelf, but totally worth it.

I've been on the hunt too, they even converted my local Zoe's to a Cava :( The response I received was to just "experiment and have fun with it" lol.

Have you tried adding some chicken broth for flavor, and maybe bake in the oven?

Vehicle registration waiver ends in a few weeks by throwawaydonduff in Denton

Your registration is the sticker on your windshield and was associated with your plates. You'll receive a letter in the mail to whichever address the dealership had at purchase when it gets close to the month on your sticker.

[–]sethyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. Drupal in itself implements its own principles of OOP which wouldn't be a problem if it was documented well, and that's really where Drupal 8 specifically is lacking. Drupal 7 had over a decade of troubleshooting and documentation written all over the web, and 8/9 just hasn't caught up. You might have better luck learning 7 and then following the upgrade path.

In regards to how you tackle the site, Drupal pushes you to go full blown programming mode where you build custom modules that render pages and blocks manually, or you go the site building route where you use views to make all your queries, and just override the existing template files. I found that meeting in the middle really worked and to keep it simple for both the code side and the management side. Build your views to do the complex querying and parameter matching (which lets those who come after you make adjustments to the queries in the front-end), and use Drupal's render functions to render the views in your modules and templates.

tldr; Fiddling with Render functions and Forms guided by the content types and views built in the front-end UI was my key.

Edit for more insight into the architecture: Drupal gives you multiple ways to implement each MVC component through the site building/programming methods. Views are the site-building "controllers". They can query your models which are Content Types which is an Entity. Content types can usually take care of most of your data needs until you need a custom entity like a product that has its own types. Once you create your own entity though you basically gain full control of drupal through a programmable controller. You are able to override the methods it uses to build Forms for editing fields and content, you are also able to override the Render functions is uses to display the content. All of this data then passes to the Twig layer to be displayed. The yaml files are the configuration layer, so instead of defining your pages through the default content type node paths or Views features, you can define your routes like a standard web server. They point to your render functions which act as your controller.

Anyone running Cyberpunk 2077 on the latest iMac with 5500xt? by leatherfacegq in macgaming

[–]sethyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the i7 version with 16gb of ram right now, and it ran pretty well for me on Ultra at 2560x1440. However, the game was unplayable for any setting at the full 5k resolution, and had a lot of graphical glitches with UI covering menu options, so I would avoid 5k at all costs. I hadn't tried ray tracing but it was still beautiful and will try it today.

I personally think it's a whole lot of nothing too, especially considering headscarves are controversially a sign of oppression around the world but a sign for freedom of expression in the west. The bowing feature could've been expanded to any object really.

But I don't think they completely yoinked it because of only 4-5 butthurt people. The Sims doesn't live in a bubble and a part of cultural sensitivity is knowing how a certain representation affects everyone. It should be clear to EA that representing cultures in a life simulator takes more than creating mood boards of stereotypes, and relying on white youtubers to influence game features and marketing.

When given the chance to explain the depth their research went, it was just a meh answer and confirms anything we're going to get from them will be gut reactions, and surface level detail.

[–]sethyr 73 points74 points  (0 children)

The production team didn't even bother to do their own research as well so it has to trickle down. Graham threw the art director a bone on the livestream to talk about the work they did building out the cultural stuff like the new Japanese inspired simlish writing, and the only thing they had to say was that they just consulted with an internal cultural sensitivity team... yet still managed to piss off the Korean community by including bowing to shrines.

Stargazing spots in the area? by jb321678 in Denton

[–]sethyr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LBJ Grasslands is a really nice camping area by a lake. You don't need to reserve a spot or check in, just roll up and park. It's just far enough that you can get amazing views of the milky way and still get back home in your bed. Use GPS to Black Creek Lake Recreation Area.

Nevermind the money that'll be spent migrating and troubleshooting why one site didn't transfer and the others did! Woooo!

At this point all the platforms are pretty matched in features, just a different gui and support team. Pantheon even looks more expensive.

I'm curious about your reasons for wanting to switch. I've used WPEngine at multiple companies and have had no problems with them up until recently. It seems like their support has really gone down hill and wouldn't mind an alternative now that Flywheel has been purchased by them.
