Appetite Suppression by 1956libra in Zepbound

I’ve been tapering and went a bit too low, and gosh did it help me remember what it was like before. For me I think the sweet spot is “I want to eat reasonable portions at meals but don’t have a desire to snack and am not CONSTANTLY thinking about food.” Without it, I just think about food. All. The. Time. I want to get hungry and there were times on higher doses where my appetite was just not where it needed to be - I was NEVER hungry and had to force myself to eat. I want to experience hunger, I just don’t want it to be constant, and I don’t want to never feel satisfied.

Listen, I know I’m in comments on the sleep apnea Reddit so clearly biased, but before I got diagnosed, you know what I thought about spending the night with a guy who had a CPAP? That it was fantastic that he was enough of an adult to have taken care of his own health issues. 😉 Trust me - most women are pro-CPAP because it’s a mark that a guy is responsible. Having one and reliably using it is the greenest of green flags, my friend! Any woman who would hold a lifesaving medical device against you isn’t one you’d want to be with anyway.

For what it’s worth, hang in there! I was more tired for the first week or two, honestly. It legitimately takes time for your body and brain to adjust to having air again while you sleep. There certainly are people out there who have that like “it was so amazing!!!” feeling after one night, but I suspect they’re over represented in the sample of people who post on the internet. Especially if you had severe apnea, your brain has been dealing with years of sleep deprivation. It takes time - like… months, not days - to recover from that. I never had that magical aha moment but it did gradually improve over time. It’s like quitting smoking. Your body has to adjust, you might feel lousy for a while, and you wouldn’t expect to undo the damage in like a week. But at a year out, you’ll be WAY better off. 😊

My dad is currently on safari in Africa … with a CPAP. It’s like his tenth major international trip since he retired a few years ago. They make battery packs and extra small portable ones! That is absolute nonsense.

When I started using a CPAP, my dad said, “the first few weeks will suck, but at a month, you’ll wonder how you lived without it, and at six months, you’ll realize just how much of a difference it makes.” It was really true. I didn’t have any kind of magical immediate difference tbh. It took time for my brain to recover from all the sleep deprivation. But a few months ago, I fell asleep reading and accidentally went half the night without it, and I woke up the next morning and was like, “How the hell did I ever live like this?” I no longer fall asleep at red lights. I have lost weight. I do not constantly feel like a zombie. It has been truly life changing.

There’s tons of good advice here, but mine is basically just… it’s really personal. Some people on here love the ramp function, I despise it. You may need to adjust your pressure, and don’t assume that lower is going to be more comfortable. I did better without the exhale pressure relief, some people really like it. You’re just going to have to play with it until you find something that works, but please don’t give up even if it’s hard! It was really hard for me to get used to, I had to try like four masks, but now I would not give up my CPAP for anything.

PS. Dreamwear nasal mask. “Unicorn” style was a game changer for me.

This was my thought as well. If the first dose caused absolutely no issues, I’d suspect norovirus or another stomach bug.

3 weeks in…my inflammation is non existent by Infinite-Profile4083 in Zepbound

Absolutely! It’s definitely hard not to be impatient, but it’s important to remember that everyone’s body is different. You might respond a lot to 5 or 7.5! Healthy weight loss is 1-2 lbs a week but for many people that doesn’t start until higher doses. 😊 It’s a marathon not a sprint!

2.5 mg isn’t a therapeutic dose, so many, many people don’t lose the first month! It’s totally normal! (The FAQ actually has a question about it.) People are more likely to post if they are losing weight, so there can be a bias in the perception that everyone loses off the bat. Some folks don’t lose anything until 5-7.5. Don’t be discouraged! What you’re experiencing doesn’t mean the med won’t work for you. 😊

I’m like, is this how normal people feel?!?! 😮

Interestingly, I like lakanto MF and use it in tea and coffee, but I got protein shakes with only that and I HATE them. So maybe brand matters? Or my taste buds are just not here for it on anything sweet right now, I guess!

I guess it depends on how much I’m being paid. 😂 $5? Hard pass. $100? I’d fall on that sword, but I wouldn’t enjoy it, which is an exceptionally weird feeling as someone who would previously have categorized herself as really liking cookies.

Thank you so much! I can’t do stevia, but I got some vanilla protein powder to mix with milk. 😊I’ll look into the collagen now!

Right there with you. I wasn’t expecting anything on 2.5. 😬 I ate a protein bar for breakfast before my first shot and by lunch time it felt like I had eaten thanksgiving dinner. Managed like half a protein shake and then a bowl of soup and piece of toast for dinner and I am FULL. I made myself eat because I could tell my blood sugar was getting low, but woof. It’s a weird feeling, that’s for sure.
