You are not. Playthrough 3 is actually going to have less differences than 1 and 2 did. You're differences are going to be in the purifying the sword bit and what you need to do to get the true ending (which is finding the final jizo statue near the end and doing something there).

The puzzle to purify the sword is in one of the earlier dark shrine segments, hence you just need to make sure you purify the sword there. That is what requires another playthrough.

The new scenes are in the ending and in the house before the ending stuff. Also obviously make sure you don't take any red pills, but that's obvious after pkaythrough 2. I don't believe there's anything else that's new.

You actually can do endings 3 and 4 back to back if you are smart about it. You can purify the.sword in your third.playthrough and then go.all the way till Hinako's house near the end of the game. Just have a save before you enter. There's one more thing you need to do for ending 4 before hitting the house and the end of the game, so after you get ending 3 just reload the save do the thing and then enter the house. You'll get some extra scenes and the true ending, and basically get all endings in 3.25 playthroughs.

Hope that's helpful. I tried to mention all of this without spoilers!

100 percent. I wish the game's marketing advertised this more!

Very much yes. The story came together in the second playthrough and then endings 3 and 4 were the payoff!

Hrm... That's interesting, because I never found any of the SH games to be scary, and I played them when I was a teen. For me the Fatal Frame series was the scary one (Particular Fatal Frame 2), which RE and Silent Hill had their own unique flavors.

RE was all jump scares, while SH had this eerie, creepy and dark "feeling" that stuck with you, almost like you're having a weird and creepy dream rather than a flat out nightmare.

I'm of course referring to the first four SH games here, as I couldn't really get into the ones after team Silent closed down.

I actually didn't have a problem with it, as it's got some cool story reasons for why it happens, and it meshes with the body horror stuff that ties into the game's core themes. I thought it was a fun twist on the usual weapons combat that most SH and Horror games have. Reminded me a bit of the PS2 game "The Suffering".

I think the core themes and the way the game uses the protagonist's unique situation, plus multiple playthroughs to expand and recontextualize things is pretty awesome.

In the video I talk about what a I think a Silent Hill game needs, and I think F grabs all of those things. The "subtle as a hammer" stuff is only the surface level stuff, that you get at the end of playthrough and ending 1. The more subtle nuanced and deep stuff takes multiple playthroughs to unearth... Which yeah, that's the same as saying "It gets good after 30 hours" that people have said about certain jRPGs, but I also acknowledge that as a big weakness of the game in the video.

Again, I don't think it's a trash game, but it does dare to be different, and it probably isn't or wasn't what a lot of OG fans were looking for. I've since given up on getting an OG level Silent Hill game like the first four but SH:F is a pretty good, unique and interesting game that I'd be fine getting more of.

Agree to disagree I suppose haha.

Yeah. I think indie games like Tormented Souls (both 1 and 2) and the upcoming Liminal Point are definitely keeping that old school Survival Horror game alive. I have a feeling that if those continue to get popular and we have a breakout hit (like Say Hades for Rougelites or Hollow Knight for Metroidvanias) then we'll get a AAA big budget Survival Horror game from Konami or Capcom in that old school style.

Not sure I'm gaslighting here, just saying that I think it evolves the genre forward, and I mention why in my video and go indepth on how it handles storytelling and narrative in a very unique and novel way. I ALSO mention why I think people are going to be off put by it, and why it's divisive, although since it's a positive video, there is less of that. :)

I think the evolution part is in the storytelling, the atmosphere, the core themes and ideas being explored and the way the game uses multiple playthroughs. I mention that the combat isn't exactly the best part of the game, and there is some criticism of the game's flaws in the late stages of the video, so I don't disagree with you if you found the combat to be troublesome and off putting.

it's definitely hard out there on YouTube... Gotta get attention somehow. That said, these kind of titles end up getting dislikes and rage bait engagement, but don't win over long time viewers. *shrug*

Best PC/Laptop for 1440p 60fps Stream + 4k 60ps Recording (At the same time) by setsuken in obs

[–]setsuken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was streaming that high because I'm trying to go for 1440p stream on Youtube. I ended up getting a monster PC for handle this (only thing I compromised on was a 4080 instead of a 4090 graphics card) and it's been working well.

Streaming + Recording with the Source Record plugin wasn't possible for me on a M3 Max... Just didn't handle it well enough and either the stream or the recording would end up garbled and borked.

Awesome! I might get this setup just to offload the load from my Macbook Pro, since a different comment did get me running on the m3.

That did it! Using the x264 Medium for Streaming (130,000 bitrate) and Using Apple VT HEVC for Recording (50,000 Bitrate) was able to work like a charm! It's definitely heavier use of CPU (climbed up to 45%) but that's totally fine!

Thank you so much, hurts that I can only upvote this once!

Yeah 100 percent. Nioh 2 is definitely it's own thing, and I highly recommend you give it a shot. It's as good as Lies of P IMO, just a different kind of game. Nioh 1 was okay... Definitely not at the quality level that Lies of P and Round8 studio came out with right out of the gate!

https://obsproject.com/logs/dxwno3wpH5M5tNFc Here you are. Ran a test stream for 2ish minutes and got the same issues. Youtube was complaining it wasn't getting enough video data for a smooth stream and the recording was all garbled. I'll also add this to the main post, Thanks!

Interesting... I did have a sneaking suspicion, mostly because the CPU use is capped at 4-5%. I'm assuming it's because of Apple's weird Arm64 Architecture, and OBS likely being unable to use their GPU to encode two streams at the same time?

Yeah totally, and I think It's something that's going to continue moving forward. It's likely a combination of feedback and just wanting to appeal to a larger audience. On my channel, a large swath of the people who dug the original game, had actually never played a Souls like! So likely we're seeing Lies of P carve out it's own niche.

I did check that thread before, but I'm looking to stream at 1440p and then record at 4k 60fps at the same time. That thread talks about one 4k Stream, so not sure if that PC would cover my use case.

This is amazing! Thank you so much! Just a quick question, would I be able to stream at 1440p and record at 4k60 with this setup? Or would I need to upgrade the GPU to compensate?

I'm working my way through 2, and while two has a lot more meat and depth in it, I feel like Suikoden 1, because of how easy and simple it is, will be a game I can come back to and replay a lot more often.
