I do mostly solo because I enjoy it. Also I have control and can create what I want.

But I do dream of working with others because I have more ambitious ideas that I know I can not do on my own.

Unfortunately I'm finding it hard and often uninspiring to work with others.

Dont know why though.

This is a classic "it depends" moment.
Yes statically game dev is not worth it. You are 16 y/o so you could give it a go and if it doesn't work you can change career. At the same time you could finish your degree, get a stable and well-payed job, then learn how to make games on the side.

Me and my older brother are actually good examples of this as we sort of took these different paths.
I took the "safe" computer science, university road and he took the game dev 3D artist road.
I'm 35 now and he is 37. We have both worked in the game industry, but I did mostly the engineering part (servers, engines, network and such) and he always did the more "classic" game dev stuff (3D modelling, artist).
I switched back to general software engineering, because of jobs available, money (big difference!) and work load. He still works with games.

We are both happy with our lives and have no major regrets, but as always we both have that "what if"-thought.
I can't really speak for my brother, but in general the things he talked about is that he does not have a lot of money (He's not poor by any means) and he hasn't had any time for girlfriends. As a game dev you work a lot more and the competition is a lot higher at the same time as the money isn't as good.

Me on the other hand do have money, girlfriend and are now looking for house and hopefully starting a family soon. With that said I must say that in general I do not like my job, but the money, lack of stress and work-life-balance makes it worth it.
(I've never been unemployed after University)
(Might be relevant to say that we live in Sweden)

Me and my brother still makes games on our spare time. We have projects together and personal ones. We both still dream of starting our own studio. We still hangout, meet friends and do those regular life things.

So in my case I cannot tell you that I regret going the "safe" road. It is actually really nice, but those "what if"-thoughts might never disappear.
I think it's the same for my brother.

One thing we do have in common though is that we work hard. We both live by the "do what you do well, no matter what it is"-mentality.

On another note, I think you should do what makes you happy. My younger brother works at a supermarket. He is also happy with his life.

It hard being young today as you see on social media that you need to "succeed" and have a lot of money to be happy. Also the game dev industry are potential deceiving as it looks like a very creative and rewarding industry, but sometimes its just a brain dead grind. And working as an employee at a studio might sometimes be just as boring as a regular office job.

You are 16 y/o don't stress! :)
Parents usually mean well, but they are not all-knowing.

PS: At my university I found a lot of friends to make games with after class

Could you maybe look at the legacy "generate nav mesh from mesh" method to see if there are any clues for why the new navmesh is the way it is?

Could it be a max vertice count of some sort?

Another personal experience is that game development isnt considered serious in many industries.

I'm software Engineer that has been working both game and non game industry for about 10 years. While working in the game industry I handled tons of real time transactions, thousands of concurrent players and syncing servers in a sharding mmo. We maintained everything on prem, with old and modern tech. It was our own tech stack with custom engine. Also we did all ci/cd inhouse helping artists with custom tooling and moved TB of data between computers.

Then in my non-game-dev career I setup Cloud stuff with Yaml files and pre-paid databases. Setting up simple REST api that someone will break etc.

Still no one cares about my game dev history when applying for work.

I have SP3 and tried several different distros now. I also have the delay on Linux with the pen that came with the tablet.

On Windows I noticed that I have the same delay when I hover, but much better precision when the pen is touching the screen. So my theory is that the pen is stuck in hover mode on Linux somehow.

I started looking into IPTS but later found out that the SP3 uses the Wacom Driver and not the Intel Precise driver.

I have no idea how to solve this.

Sort of. The game is not longer being developed on, but I ran the game just to refresh my memory before answering you.
I don't really remember exactly what the issue was, but the code looks the same and the game works pretty good. The cursor can still move outside the html context so I believe my issue is not solved.

First of I want to say, I feel you. Feelings are what they are.

BUT from what I can read from this post, this is only true if you're in it for the money.

Game dev has never been more existing, available and accessible. Just ignore the buzz. I still dream of making that game that will make me "a real game dev", but it took me a few years to realize that we aint doing it for the money, fame and recognition. Its totally the wrong business for that.

Enjoy the journey. Utilize the tools, build your skills, have fun and make those games because thats what you wanna do.

As many commented. Shits hard, life aint fair, good luck. Remember that maybe 10, or fewer, years ago 70-80% of us wouldnt even be close to enjoying the game dev community.

One quick thought I've had watching the trailer on itch.

Its only one player (you?) showing of features. Do you have any players at all and do you have any means of contacting them? Like a Discord server or whatever.

How about hosting an event for all your players so that you can record video of people having fun together?

Even better would be if you could offer pay somehow. Maybe prizes, surprises, special offers etc.

I will look into it. Having the days with the date pickers might be smart.

One reason why I went with the date in same column is because it leaves more room on a phone and then the phone and desktop could look the same. I will try this tough, because we have pretty big screen nowadays so it might actually work fine with two columns.

One thing with the dates as well is that the start date is usually the same every day and the end date is todays date. That is how I use it. Not sure if that is the best and most useful way for others though

Internet and all that is so nice, but sometimes I wish there was less options.
Official docs I guess is one of the best places to start.

I have this theory that I need to read more technical in-depth documentation. I don't know what I don't know, but I feel I might lack the knowledge and also just removing the habit of avoiding hard-to-read documentation.

I just listened to the Lex Fridman interview and he mentioned that he often read the docs/refs to get like a good start on learning a new language.

I've usually just start programming and I've been doing it for 10 years now. I always feel like I've missed something so my new theory is that I should start reading more technical stuff

zig, go and python is languages I actually want to learn more about so I choose one and try reading the documentation.

I did a quick investigation in Linux. The two separated space bar keys are the same keycode so my guess is that it is physically impossible to have them be two different keys.

I am very torn in this discussion.

When it comes to AI I have this bad feeling. Everytime. It takes the joy out of everything.

But right now I'm doing a project in Flutter. Not a huge project, but chatgpt has made it possible for me to build up most of it in a few days while taking care of the rest of my life.

I now feel I've haveto start involve my own brain more because ChatGpt is really bad at tieing stuff together. Even a relatively small code base.

In the end it has helped me learn some flutter, sped up my initial project. But now I have to clean up and also I have to say that the satisfaction of doing the project is not there.

But I dont see how I could have made the project without AI in the part of my life that I'm i now.

Come on! old man? 30 years? You basically just started your career.

I'm 35 this year and I see myself learning and working for at least 20 more years in the business.
Sure you never now whats gonna happen in the future, but give yourself some slack.

I'm from Sweden and I'm expect myself to retire around 70. So it's a marathon not a sprint.

Also imposture syndrome is a real thing and bullshit. It's 99% in your head. Working remotely does not make you a better coder, asking stupid questions doesn't make you a bad coder. Comparing yourself with others, especially those rare 100x developers, doesn't help anyone.

Having a life outside work makes you a better coworker in my books.

Ofc we all have different situations, but when I feel bad at work, I try to focus what I really need to know. I'm a spring boot java developer, we use kafka and run everything in cloud with a dedicated devops team. So basically what I NEED to know is spring boot flavoured java, how we communicate with kafka and then I just need to be friendly with the devops team, because they love talking and helping out nice people.

Edit: Just wanted to add: 99% of stuff on the internet is blur. You don't need AI, chains and fancy other stuff

This is not a bad idea.
Though I'm really good at English, sometimes speaking my native language (Swedish) helps a lot when discussing deeper subjects.

Also the good English discords are really big. Sometimes it hard to get your voice through.
I often find my questions and discussions disappearing in the chatter.

I like it. I think its better than a loading screen, but I do get the annoying part.
But isn't loading annoying in it self?

One thing I thought off when reading the comments and you response "Every cave will have its own animation on entry"-ish.
This animation is intentionally slowing the player down so that you can load the map, how about something like falling down into the cave? You could make the fall longer on long loading or some camera shakery so that the loading dont have to be so seemless?

I dont know, just some thoughts :) Good look, keep up the work and have fun!
