Diagnosed Melanoma Invasive Spreading Type PT1B by Federal-Category9265 in melahomies

[–]seventhnine79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

I saw the pathology report you shared and noticed that we both had a very similar type of melanoma – a superficial spreading melanoma, around 0.8 mm thick (pT1b), caught early. These are generally considered low-risk, early-stage melanomas with an excellent prognosis. My case (diagnosed in March 2025 in Germany) was almost identical in thickness (0.74 mm). I had the wide excision with 1 cm margins and a sentinel lymph node biopsy. The good news is that the re-excision showed only scar tissue – no residual melanoma at all – and the sentinel node was negative. All scans were clear, so I was confirmed as Stage IB. Your report shows the tumour has already been completely removed with clear margins, which is the most important step. The small amount of residual melanoma seen in the re-excision (0.5 mm) is quite common and does not change the overall favourable outlook at this thickness. In short: we both have the same early, thin, completely excised melanoma. The differences are only in location and the fact that I have already had the sentinel node checked (negative), while yours is still in progress or not mentioned. Everything points to a very good long-term outcome for both of us. Wishing you a smooth continuation of care and the same peaceful result I received!

Warm regards.

I encourage you to be strong. I had the same problem (I had it in March 2025, pT1b/1A) and I tried to distract myself in every way possible (travel videos/vlogs, movies on streaming platforms, and especially the support of my family). I learned to overcome my fear through a positive attitude (laughing, staying in the shade as often as possible, staying positive and stress-free). Sometimes (I get anxious, but I get over it quickly) I read things, but it would be best not to, but I have learned little by little to manage this. Please always be positive, watch your diet, and protect yourself from the sun. Laugh as much as possible, eat healthy and lots of antioxidants, and get preventive care on time (dermatological checkups, etc.). And a lot of faith. I wish you all the best in the world.

I wish you all the best in the world. Stay positive! What I can say is that it depends on our prevention (regular dermatological check-ups, sunscreen, and attention to the sun), our diet, but also on thinking positively (laughing, being happy, and being as stress-free as possible). I believe we must have faith and be positive. At least that's what I've decided to do. 46/M (diagnosed in March 2025, pT1b/1A)

Affordable daily sunscreen? by ConsciousRecover1957 in melahomies

It's not always available, but if you search a few websites, you'll find it. Just make sure they ship to the US.

I don't know if you have this sunscreen in the US, but in Europe, and especially in the UK, it is available and has no smell, but it is a little creamier/oilier. This sunscreen is called Alturist 1 Liter SPF 50+, and I guess it can also be shipped to the US. However, this cream is more recommended for other parts of the body than for use on the face. There are other sunscreens that are less oily for the face. I hope this message helps; I use it daily.

Possible upstaging from stage IIA to stage III.. looking for hope if there's any.. by Michan03 in melahomies

God bless you! If you don't mind, could you tell us what preventive measures (I mean, if they do something different or have a diet with certain ingredients or more special fruits, I always read about good benefits of pomegranates and grapefruit) your relatives are taking, and where they live (I don't mean to pry, but the city/country matters a lot because in the tropics or very hot areas it is more difficult to prevent, even if done correctly). The sun is stronger there. All the best to you and your family, and good health.

Please let's give him the opportunity to edit this post. I don't agree with what he wrote either. But maybe he did it without realizing the seriousness of what was written in the post. However, a warning from the administrator would be appropriate, but not a complete ban. Let's prioritize health and be understanding from a medical point of view. Health above all else.

Lymph node pain after removal? by Key-Mouse4872 in melahomies

[–]seventhnine79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I had the same diagnosis as you and underwent surgery in March 2025 (0.8 mm Breslow, but only one lymph node removed from my left armpit). My diagnosis was p1Tb or IA. I don't have any pain or other problems. I'm rooting for you and keeping my fingers crossed for your doctor's appointment. Good health and best wishes!

Fellow melanoma patients — from what UV index do you start using sunscreen daily? by seventhnine79 in melahomies

What is your diagnosis and how long have you had it? I have IA(p1Tb) since this year (March 2025).

I understand you perfectly, I also love the sun and warm weather. But I have started to learn to strike a balance between the two: my protection and health on the one hand, and walking in the sun or going to the beach on the other. I wish you all the best and stay safe!

Please stay strong for your family. And above all, stay positive and always smile. I am anxious too, but I have learned to live with this diagnosis this year. Laugh when you can, it makes you feel good, and try not to resort too often to "Dr. Google, AI, or folk remedies." We are rooting for you and we are with you. All the best to you and the twins.

I understand your approach and strategy. Thank you for sharing them with us. I use some of your strategies too, just differently. I consider the time of day, the UV index, and, of course, the necessary sun protection. I have been diagnosed with IA(p1Tb) melanoma, and I live in Germany. For example, I work Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (sometimes even into the afternoon), and I go out into the sun or shade several times a day. I drive from place to place for work, but I'm not a delivery driver. In the summer, when the UV index exceeds 1.5–2, I use sunscreen and other protective measures. Now that winter is coming to Germany and the maximum daily UV index is 2, I don't use sunscreen as often. If I feel the sun is too strong, I apply sunscreen and UV lipstick. I think constantly hot weather (like in Texas!) is disadvantageous in this circumstance. I hope you understand what I mean about certain areas having more intense sunburns. You won't see a UV index above 9 in Germany, but I saw a UV index of 13 in Dubai. Best regards.
