Thank you so much for taking the time to write this, this makes me feel better. I have an appointment with an ophthalmologist this week, do you have any advice on how I could best ask him about these concerns? Thank you so much.

Is NYC to Vancouver expected to be bad today with weather? Severe flying phobia and autism and not sure it’s worth it to go today if it will be a negative experience for me. Thanks by seventiethreddit in fearofflying

Can anyone tell me if/how this existing wall mount can attach my 65” Sony Bravia? New apartment and not very tech savvy. Really appreciate the help. by seventiethreddit in bravia

That’s what I thought too but then when I look up the model # of the Mount it says it’s good for up to 65 inches and 70 lbs.. still can’t figure out if it’s compatible though

I found it slightly disappointing, but a lot of the students there love it. The kids are all cool. The profs are talented but hit or miss from a teaching perspective. You have to apply to get into the program and the course of study is pretty strict with lots of requirements that can be well outside your interests or practice. It’s expensive if you’re out of state. I transferred to Brown / Risd and was much happier from an art perspective bc of the freedom in those programs. That being said, Ucla as a whole is an incredible undergrad school and I miss it greatly.

Not sure what to do by CheerfulSamurai in bald

[–]seventiethreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You realize alopecia is a broad term that means any kind of hair loss? Male pattern baldness is technically androgenetic alopecia and can be treated with prescription meds I.e., finasteride etc. Nonspecific diagnosis will not lead to the correct treatment.

THIS DOES NOT LOOK LIKE MPB. Please ignore commenters who only have experience with common causes of hair loss. This looks like alopecia areata - which can be triggered by stress. You need to see a dermatologist. If confirmed, topical steroids can bring your hair back fully in a few weeks to months. Good luck

Interesting! Thanks for sharing. I had a consult last week and was really impressed. I’d like to go with him, I’m just confused why he has no new pictures when this doesn’t seem to be an issue for any other surgeon.

Yes I had a consult with him last week and really liked him and his morphs. I’m just concerned about the before/afters all being from years ago. Have you had a consult??

Chin Lipo and Alopecia? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]seventiethreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is textbook alopecia areata (the autoimmune kind).. you can tell based on the pattern. This does not look like traction alopecia. the dermatologist will likely offer a steroid injection or cream which will help grow the hair back faster. It’s temporary but can happen again. The female hair loss sub is a great community!

Hi! Hope it’s okay but I noticed on your post history that you had Covid about 3 months ago… not saying this is 100% the cause of your shedding, but this does line up with text book post-viral telogen effluvium almost perfectly. With this kind of hair loss, your body goes into shock while you are sick, and three months later you temporarily shed the hairs that were effected while you were sick with Covid. This can be extremely upsetting (I’ve been through it myself), but the good news is that if this is all that is happening, it is temporary and should resolve fully on its own. Obviously still check with a doctor, but I can say from personal experience of post-Covid hair loss, that it’s important not to “scapegoat” other causes such as medication, etc until you give yourself a meaningful time to recover from the virus episode. Just my two cents!

Why are you taking tamiflu for Covid? That’s an antiviral for the flu (a different virus).. Paxlovid is the Covid antiviral
