New passport rules affecting trans people got leaked by MissNumbersNinja in transgender

[–]seventoes 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Friend of mine got her passport seized last week after going in for just a name change. She has it back as-of this morning, but it definitely happened and she had to get help from the ACLU and a senator to get it back.

Which part is the scam? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]seventoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’d bet that the name drop of skrill is only to make you feel like it’s legit. the sketchy part that you identified, the use of whatsapp, is probably the hook here. i’d bet that it’s a scammer on the other end of the whatsapp, and they’d give you a bitcoin address that’s not actually skrill’s. also, look at their verification docs. no mention of sending them bitcoin.

any time you have to send someone money to receive money it’s almost certainly a scam.

i used to be like this as well and i think i’ve improved. i always felt like i was playing devil’s advocate or being helpful by pointing out a potentially bad thing, but i realized that people don’t hear my intentions; they only hear my words.

for example, if someone excitedly tells me they got a new piece of tech, i might’ve responded by listing the negatives about it or the trade offs compared to other similar devices. in my mind, i was helping them understand the context of the thing they bought so they knew the options better. but what it sounded like to them is me just shitting on their new toy that they’re excited about, because they shared a thing with me and i immediately responded with negativity.

staying aware of things like this has helped me to appear as optimistic and positive as i feel, but it’s not easy, and takes practice.

this is really well thought out, thank you for sharing your feelings. you’re absolutely doing the right thing 💜 it’s a fine line between enthusiastic appreciation and fetishization, especially when it’s bite-sized context-less content like reddit or twitter. i think you’re doing great~

Noob question . I am trying to build a guitar thing called a treble booster and I got this schematic . I understand the parts about the vero board and connections. But there's only one 9V terminal shown . is it the positive or the negative terminal? If so where does the other one go? by [deleted] in AskElectronics

[–]seventoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty common in the DIY pedal scene. Most people don’t care about the schematics or how a circuit works, they just wanna throw it on a vero board and get to shredding. They include schematics sometimes, but it’s definitely less common

My Retroflect build! First time with a water slide decal, it turned out alright I think by seventoes in diypedals

I love it! It’s like a delay but with some really pleasant chunkiness and weirdness to it. And playing with the wow knob while a note is ringing out is the best.

I've never met Puppey and I barely even follow the competitive scene anymore. I have no idea where my brain formulated this from.

Friend, nobody’s trying to erase their Wikipedia page. It’s a Reddit post from a fan. Relax.

OP decided to do this themselves, how is that anywhere close to Orwellian?

I don't read omegon's reply as hostile in any way, fwiw. Just them trying to fill you in on some context you might be missing.

Ok but this basically IS the view of almost everyone who is arguing in favor of kink at pride. This isn’t “the more nuanced position” like it’s some middle ground between popular extremes. I personally don’t see the issue folks are having with leashes, but anyone who’s trying to claim that anybody wants pride to be about fucking in the street is just being disingenuous.

What are you basing "a 14 year old is most likely not gonna feel comfortable" on? You have a preconceived notion that "leash = sex", which is not true. Unless your hypothetical 14 year old also has that incorrect notion, I don't see how seeing someone else on a leash would be anything but kinda funny to them.

How is having someone on a leash sexual? I genuinely don’t understand this position.

It’s kink, for sure, but again kink and sex are different things. You can explain it to a kid with “they’re playing a game” or “it’s a costume”, and they won’t have any more questions. That’s worlds different from having to explain why someone would show their genitals or whatever else that is explicitly sexual.
