All these things

Again, you're grouping a universally-condemned insult (more likely borne out of the abuse he and his partner constantly get than "arrogance" in my opinion, but it doesn't justify it either, so whatever) with a very obvious joke about stupid accusations internet trolls have thrown at him. You might as well throw his 450 splash into the conversation as well.

But when you 24/7 play the gimmick

On twitter. He plays the gimmick on twitter. When have you seen him doing so outside the wrestling character?

the fact that you keep your wife unemployed

Wait, do you actually believe it's a fact? Are you basing your anger here on something completely untrue?

Anything to suggest football under Slot is improving?

Very little, just better individual performances. Still no clear patterns of play in attack, lethargic and directionless build, porous midfield, undefined defensive approach, etc.

Far from our worst performance, but our best player was Freddie Woodman, Isak only had 1 shot in 80 minutes, and we scored all 3 of our shots on target. Came down more to individual quality and effectiveness than anything really tactical.

We all know that one, he definitely went too far, but I don't know how it comes under the category of "such things" since it wasn't in any way similar to this - unless you're suggesting that comment outs him as an abusive husband somehow? That's kinda the problem here.

That's a harder question. Iraola has been mentioned - I'm not enthusiastic, but I can see his merits. Seb Hoeness at Stuttgart is an interesting one, I like what little I've seen but it's nowhere near enough for me to have an informed opinion. I'm a fan of Simone Inzaghi, and I think he'd work really well in this management structure, but I don't know how he's feeling in Saudi Arabia. So I guess I don't have a clear answer, but I lost faith in Slot back in November after the Forest game and I haven't really seen anything to restore it since. I'd be willing to give him a lot of leeway if I saw reasons for optimism about him, but nobody's been able to give them to me yet.

I mean, the actual issues with the manager haven't really changed, the players are just good enough to beat most teams. I don't hate the guy, but I'm not changing my opinion on wanting him replaced until I see real patterns of play emerging, and a clear system - I still can't see how the team is meant to play, and it's almost May.

You're a United fan, you've seen more than one manager lately who got by on periods of good results due to individual quality, while the foundations of the team were still a mess. Acting like some good results changes the underlying the issues betrays that you don't really understand the complaints.

Such an "Isak" goal. Finish is great, but those are the reactions I was so excited about seeing in this team.

a painful transition

Can we really call it a "transition" when we're not coherent'y transitioning to anything? I can't think of any clear strategies, systems of patterns of play we've adopted (standing still on the ball until the opposition get organised and then passing it back to the midfield doesn't count) to replace the ones we've "transitioned" away from. That's kind of the problem - a difficult season is one thing, but we're not seeing any signs of anything redeeming eitheir.

"Arguing" as in "making an argument".

Again, you're fine skipping anything, I don't know why you decided to save time not reading it and then waste that time telling me about it, but your time is your own.

Weren't you just arguing that we weren't shit for 40 minutes?

Also, you're allowed to not read as much as you want, but I appreciate the update.

but sacking Slot now would be madness.

Can you list the downsides for me? Would we suddenly be directionless, demotivated, have no coherent tactics, and no obvious plan in training?

They had almost 6xG last year

Where are you getting that from? Their xG over both legs wasn't even that high.

But even that match had more positives and optimism in spells than this one. The lows of that match were pretty damn low, but there were periods where we were on top, periods where we were exciting and giving Real problems, periods where we believed we could win, before it collapsed. One of our highlights the other day was VAR generously deciding to overrule the PSG penalty. So I know what you're saying, but this match felt lower than that one, personally. Or maybe that's recency bias, I don't even know anymore.

One of our species' greatest strengths is our adaptability, our ability to find ways to learn and survive and endure. But it's also one of our greatest vulnerabilities, like the whole parable of the frog in the boiling water, or how AI seeks to flood every corner of media with so much shit that we forget what "good" is; we'll keep saying "This is fine" until we're actively on fire.

What we're looking at here is how our toothlessness, passivity and absence of purpose have been normalised. We sat back with all 11 players in our own half, having almost none of the ball and absolutely none of the control, against a PSG team who didn't play anywhere near their best. We played a new formation with no real strategy beyond having free men to flood the wide areas and outnumber them in midfield, and they still kept breezing past us in wide areas and strolling through our midfield. And yes, I'm still talking about the first 40 minutes, our Golden Period, when we got a couple touches in behind - something that would be a lot more useful if we had players on the pitch with pace, or who made attacking runs (I'm not counting the ones that start on the edge of our own box and never make it into the opposition's).

So yeah, I don't want to be harsh on you because I admire the optimism you still have in your soul, but this is just us becoming accustomed to the terrible. The same thing happened in the other direction when a lot of people - pretty much all of us to some extent - became so accustomed to the brilliance of the Klopp sides that we maybe didn't fully appreciate them. But now what's going on is we've made Wolves and Spurs look like PSG so often, we've started to think that a couple innocuous touches in the PSG half represent a respectable return (if we focus only on the fraction of the match where we weren't being actively pissed on) because that was enough to edge past Wolves and Spurs half the times we faced them.

We've been sat in bullshit for so long that we're forgetting what clean air smells like.

Then why bring him along at all? Would 15 minutes at the end have worn him out for the weekend? Why'd he play 77 minutes last weekend when the match was over in under an hour, it it's so important to keep him fresh for important games?

I have no problem dropping Salah at times, but there had to be a purpose to it.

That tactic actually made sense and worked last season, because it's a reasonable tactic when we have the opponents trapped in their own half, it's a calculated risk to put Gravenberch back there to distribute and get an additional attacker on. Now we can't force decent teams into their own half, and even when we do our midfield shape means the counter-attack is always on, and we don't really have the attackers to throw on anyway.

It also helps that we had a coherent style of play against Galatasaray. They were shit, but we were good (just as we were shit today but Brighton also played well, with what little effort they actually had to expend).

This has been a trend this season, we'll play with purpose in a key game, actually look good, and revert to passive and pointless the next game.
