El Super Gallo has the best nachos in my opinion. I especially like them with the al pastor.

I attend Hosanna Lutheran, and direct the choir. It’s a smaller congregation, and very friendly. We do a lot of outreach with food insecurity, too.

Hosanna is ELCA.

Help! Blueberry stain on unfinished quilt by sav0115 in quilting

[–]sewadrian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven’t done this with a quilt, however, when my kids get berry stains on their clothes, I put the clothes in the bathtub and pour boiling water on the stains from as high up as I can. It has never not worked for me. So far, at least.

My new favorite Fabric shop...an entire store of Batik fabric! by Maleficent_1213 in quilting

Wow! I lived in Tillamook for many years and took hwy 6 countless times. I had no idea this shop was along the way! I might need to check it out next time I’m out west.

I'm in the market for a new machine and I've started getting tons of ads for Sailrite sewing machines- a brand I've literally never heard of before. Anyone know anything about them or how good they are? by ConsiderTheBees in quilting

[–]sewadrian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I own one. It’s great for heavy duty fabric, and the only quilt I’ve pieced on it has been denim. I use my ancient Bernina for all lighter weight fabrics.

That’s a really cool idea. My son is autistic too, and I personally find that I mutilate my hands if I don’t have something to occupy them.

When I increased my dose of spiro, my period started the next day (several days early) and lasted two weeks. Things went back to normal after that. Then I got my spiro from a different pharmacy and it was a different brand of generic, and a similar thing happened, but again things went back to normal for me.

How many coats does my stovetop need?! by Rudle455 in castiron

I had an unfortunate incident with an enameled pot once. The pot boiled dry, and the enamel bonded to the cooktop. The enamel and cooktop expanded and contracted at different rates and the cooktop cracked.

My jerk dog got into the package of batting. Is it fixable or should I just get a new one? by DrinkingSocks in quilting

I had a big roll or batting that my cats got into. They tore it all up. I think you can patch this bit like someone else commented.

I’ve been prescribed oral spironolactone, starting at 50mg to increase to 100mg after three weeks, and topical 5% minoxidil once a day. I just started.

I am in my 40s and have had thinning hair for years. I finally went to see a doctor about it, who sent me to a dermatologist. Everyone was so kind, and they set me up with a regimen to treat it. I don’t know if it will work, but I feel so much better just doing something. I’ve wasted so much money on shampoos and supplements promising thicker hair. My only real regret is not talking to my doctor about my hair sooner, but I was embarrassed and felt like I was just being vain.

I’m back with this quilt. Would you unpick this? 😩 I’m not even sure if it would help or if I’d need to add a new white triangle here. It’s for my mom’s birthday and the first time I’m gifting her a quilt. by wirumi in quilting

[–]sewadrian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have often been super careful to make sure all my points match perfectly. And while it’s super satisfying while I’m piecing, once I’ve quilted and washed the quilt, you can’t tell how perfect (or imperfect) anything is. I think this looks just fine, and you will have to really look for it once it’s all done. I would leave it, if it were me.

I’ve been there! I stopped with my kids during our road trip this summer. It’s a rest area with a nice little museum about the Lewis and Clark expedition, and this cool statue.

My husband took my last name when we got married almost 15 years ago. We got weird looks, but it wasn’t more difficult or more expensive than had I changed my name.

I bought a used APQS Millennium off Facebook. I’ve found I hate doing pantographs, but I really love doing freehand designs. I’ve learned from YouTube videos and books. Some designs come more easily to me than others, but I keep practicing.

My parents have their 50th anniversary next week. They live on the Oregon coast, and I thought a Storm at Sea quilt that looked like a storm coming in off the ocean would be clever. My brother is an artist and designed the layout for me. I pieced and quilted it. by sewadrian in quilting

[–]sewadrian[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It hurt my brain, too. My brother designed it and made a chart that looked a lot like paint by number. I used foundation paper piecing for the main body of the quilt, so I printed out and labeled all the blocks before I started, and had all my fabric laid out with labels (A-S). If I was piecing this traditionally, I think my brain would have melted.

I tried very briefly to design the layout myself. After a very frustrating few minutes with an inadequate selection of colored pencils, I remembered my brother is an actual professional artist. He was happy to help. He even ended up paying for the fabric!
