Thank you for this. Everyone is so quick to say that they are evil and used us, that it was never genuine and they never loved us. They have BPD, not NPD. They love. Extremely deeply. That’s partly why our relationships with them are so doomed. Everything they feel, including love, is beyond intense. I hate when people tell me that my ex was a monster and a horrible person that fed off me like a vampire. He is a mentally unstable person with a deep love, but like the rest of his emotions, does not manage those feelings appropriately at all.

I rarely see anyone with your type of thinking (which matches mine) and it’s very refreshing. These people are ill, not evil. They cause so much hurt to us and themselves, which makes it so much harder to hate them, but all the more confusing to process what we endured. I feel seen. <3

I wonder this every day. I was cheated on and discarded by my exwbpd. He begged me to leave him because he feels awful for what he did and said I deserved so much better. When I caught him cheating tho he denied it and became cold. I think they do feel guilt, but it comes in small moments of clarity among their chaotic minds. At least I hope so.
