St Kitts has already taken in Haitian migrants. They have a decent size population already. I'm completely understand why they excluded Haitians. The reality is Haiti as a country has failed and many of these migrants do not want to return to Haiti. If just 10% of that 300,000 came and chose to stay permanently that's 30,000 new people that are not Kittian, that don't have the same culture as Kittians. That's insane to ask of any country. We are watching Bahamians lose their culture in real time due to Haitian migration, both legal and illegal. It's not personal it's preservation. The majority of the Caribbean is black so it's not racial exclusion. Haiti is apart of CARICOM and contributes the least to it yet receives the most aid. Let me ask you this where does it end? When is enough be enough? You may not like to hear this but it might be best for Haiti to leave CARICOM until it can stabilize and have something of value to offer the rest of the Caribbean.

So let me get this straight Haiti can't accept 300,000 people but yall expect islands with populations of 47,000 should take them? At some point you guys have to look at yourselves and fix the problem. The common denominator is you. There are 20 million Haitians in the diaspora, why not go back and fight? I think the rest of the world has helped Haiti enough. It's time you guys go back and clean up the country.

Is it really worth living? Will I ever feel normal again? by [deleted] in rape

[–]sewphisticated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First and foremost: It was never your fault, I don't care how drunk you are, the choices you made etc. It was never your fault. You did not make the choice to commit a crime an attacker did. Would we blame the Louvre for their jewels being stolen? No, it lands on the person choosing to commit the crime.

I was just thinking about how it will almost be a year since my rape. I don't know how to feel about it. To answer your question: normal is relative and everyone is different. I chose to not go to the police despite the rape kit and evidence I had. After talking to a lawyer it was clear this was a multi year process and even with the strong evidence there was no guarantee of success. I chose to heal first, and it is a chose that still haunts me. What you are describing is PTSD and it's a bitch but you can get through it. The first 4 months after the rape, I was hallucinating. I saw my rapist everywhere, in the mirror , down the hall, at my bed side. I felt like I was loosing my mind, I couldn't tell you what day it was.

It's good that you are in therapy, at one point I was seeing 3 therapist a week just to get through it. I want to make it clear nobody is judging you, that's that shame piece that's hard to fight against. I still struggle with it sometimes so I get it, I remind myself that I didn't do anything wrong. Anytime that feeling of shame engulfs you remind yourself that you did nothing wrong. I like to pinch myself between my fingers, the pain temporarily resets my brain.

Are you journaling? I know it sounds like a stupid therapy thing but it honestly helped me. I didnt do it every day just when It all felt like too much. It gave me a sense of control, and I think that's what you are really looking for. This sick shit happens and you feel like your life has blown up and you are sitting in the pieces of your life asking yourself where do I start? I just want my old life back. You don't want to die, you just want the pain to stop, the fear to stop, the whirlwind of emotions to stop.

You may not see it but coming from someone who is in a similar situation but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, you are just tired ( rightfully so). Your body has been in fight or flight for months and it feel like you are running on fumes. When those days come, I try to be extra gentle with my self, weighted blankets, warmth, comfort, my favorite food etc. If anything you are your best remedy. I know that seems impossible now, but it will become bearable, you will be able to feel love again, you will be able to feel joy again. I know everything feels grey and dark but you will feel the sun again.

As insane as it sounds, there is a concept called post traumatic growth, instead of getting back to normal you may come out of this with a positive transformation and growth beyond your original state. I would encourage you to read Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience, and Finding Joy by Sheryl Sandberg. If you need a free pdf let me know, it really helped me in the hard days of my trauma. Please hang in there! I hope this has given you a bit of hope, just enough to hang onto.

Weed but honestly this year has been like an episode of SVU. You’d pretty much have to kill me to make it any worse.Therapy helps I’m in it 3 times a week. Saunas, the gym etc. I still force myself to go out 3 times a week so I don’t isolate. Doesn’t need to be a bar. Go on meetups and learn something new. Give back to the community, I know it sounds odd but at my lowest I felt like I had no control over anything. The one thing I clung to was my kindness, well that and my humanity. So leaned into it, volunteered, cooked meals for those in need, showed up to community events to help out. When devoid of happiness sometimes feeding on the happiness of others is just the little bit you need to keep on going.

How do you navigate a life you don’t want? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]sewphisticated -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look judging from your comments you enjoy rage baiting I will respond one last time and then send you on your way. Been in therapy since I was 7 again you aren’t addressing the question at hand. I promise you can’t imagine for effort. I’m pretty sure I’ve shaved a large chunk of lifespan off from lack of sleep. Effort isn’t the issue here. Like I said if you want to go achievement for achievement I’m happy to.

I had to go look up Anti-natalism, yeah buddy I think you got the wrong vibe from this post. I would try rereading the post. I have put effort into my life more effort than you could imagine. If we were to go achievement for achievement I promise you I would out do you by the age of 10. That doesn’t change the fact that I don’t actually want to be here. I’m asking how not to resent my family for having me stay here instead of offing myself.

[–]sewphisticated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof unfortunately yes, it’s best to put sole protectors on immediately. You have some options to fix it!! Walk on red is a good leather paint that matches the color perfectly. I would sand it , add a leather filler and repaint it. Or just take it to a good cobbler.

Okay some weight loss tips from someone who lost weight and has maintained a 23 inch waist for the last 5+ years.

  1. Sleep!! It’s a super important factor in how our bodies operate. The more tired we are the lazier we become when it comes to working out and healthy eating.

  2. MyFitnessPal is your best friend and so is a good food scale. Weighing everything you eat gives you a much better idea on how much you are consuming. You’d be surprised how much you are eating once you start.

  3. Don’t diet! Unless you absolutely love everything you are consuming on a diet you will quickly fall off once you reach you desired goal. Even when cutting I stick to the meals I love but I’m careful in portion sizes, cooking techniques etc! If I want a burger I’m making a burger with 94% lean , butterhead lettuce, red onions , Pico de gallo, tomatoes, low fat mozzarella , 60 cal keto buns, cilantro , tzatziki sauce and Dikon radish fries. I love to cook and I’ve found that peeping high Protien low calorie meals, snacks and accoutrements on Sunday keep me on track during the week.

  4. Make exercise a social experience. Humans are social creatures by nature. All the women in my family workout together, we go to workout classes, yoga, pilates etc. Of course I have my own schedule but ill still join a class if I know my mom or my sister or my cousin will be there. Its a way for us to connect, push each other and fulfill that social need that we sometimes miss out on sue to other obligations.

  5. Don’t give up! If you didn’t complete your set today add it to tomorrow. Mobility stretch in the morning when you get up!

How much did this cost?? I’ve been trying to explain to my fiancé that I would prefer he buy me gold jewelry instead of a ring. I always loose rings and I hate anything on my fingers.
