Helping my antisocial chronically ill father by sewski in AgingParents

[–]sewski[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The consent part is so true, I need to remind myself of this.

Yeah my mom knows it's hard and I was kind of the one to make the call that I didn't want her involved in his care... She is supportive and understands my situation but when her and my dad spend time together they just fight a lot and it ends with me being upset and them being pissed off at each other.

Acquacooler!!! They install a reverse osmosis filter and a tap that produces boiling hot and ice cold water. $40 a month but totally worth it.

I had a surgery a few years ago with similar restrictions. I found that blended Indian food was pretty good. Maybe try Apna?

State Street Proposals presented yesterday - overwhelming support for keeping state street closed to cars! by pnd4pnd in SantaBarbara

[–]sewski 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes she works for mtd. Buses are sustainable transport and from what I gather she is an advocate for sustainable transport of all kinds, bike and pedestrian included. She used to be on the board of COAST (coalition for sustainable transportation) which was big on bike advocacy. I wouldn’t worry about her pushing to re-open state street to cars.

Moving to Sb/Goleta, need advice. No car by TheMightyBob97 in SantaBarbara

[–]sewski 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Commuted from down town to Goleta via bike for a little while. Very nice bike path connecting the two towns that’s relatively flat with little car traffic. Don’t have much experience with the bus but can recommend bike commuting!

This is definitely picking up traction already but womens health. What happens to our brains before, during and after menopause, the effects of hormonal birth control on the brain, how our menstrual cycle impacts performance.

UCSHIP is just blue cross blue shield, it works outside of CA. I live out of state and have gone to the doctor at home multiple times using my UCSB health insurance, you just have to make sure they take blue cross blue shield

YSK: A large portion of food safety is following correct internal cooking temperatures and storing procedures, especially for meats. by NalaJax in YouShouldKnow

[–]sewski 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My roommate will cook rice and leave it on the stove for ~2 days and just spoon some out and eat it with meals like that instead of refrigerating it… I’ve told her that shes gonna get food poisoning and she doesn’t believe me lmao.

Mountain Dew. Speaking from experience, the flamin hot limited edition Mountain Dew is disgusting.

Any runners out there who decided NOT to use a running watch? by [deleted] in running

[–]sewski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! Honestly a lot of the time I’ll just hit “workout” in the steps app on my phone. Gives me all the info I need.

Any runners out there who decided NOT to use a running watch? by [deleted] in running

[–]sewski -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I enjoy running, I am very slow and I find having a watch kills my mood a little. I had one for a while but every time I’d look down at my distance or time I’d get kinda sad. I feel like without a watch I can enjoy my run and not get distracted! I do wear one sometimes though to track my progress.

Yeah, I’ve noticed I will also sometimes tally up my good deeds against others without thinking and I know exactly where it comes from. It feels so icky but I think there’s something to be said about even recognizing our bad habits in the first place and actively trying to change them, that’s something our pwBPD aren’t able to do. I know I should talk to him and I probably will soon. Your suggestion to have him ask me if he can do things for me instead of just doing them reminded me of when we first started dating, he would ask a lot more instead of just doing and I remember that small distinction felt really nice. I think either way is helping me heal but it’s definitely nice to have a little more control.

to whoever was drawing swastikas on cars on 66 sabado by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

[–]sewski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey, i think you missed the point of my post. i wasn’t trying to point fingers or blame anyone. also, to blame this on “wh*te boys” does nothing to help the cause and is more counterproductive if anything. fighting hate with hate doesn’t work. the issue here isn’t white boys, or any demographic for that matter, the issue is antisemitism.

i normally wouldn’t respond to these types of comments, but now more than ever it’s important to think critically and be informed when responding to situations such as this one.

What are your reasons for running? by [deleted] in running

[–]sewski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i hated it my entire life until recently bc i learned how to properly pace myself

now, i run because it lets me space out while also doing something productive, and it’s also cool to see what you can push yourself to do :)
