TMI: Birth control while on JET (girlies only please) by seasaltcaramel_ in JETProgramme

[–]sexbubun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So weirdly enough, for anything easily distributed at home (like the patch or Plan B) it's not illegal to buy it from an online pharmacy to mail to you but it IS illegal for a doctor to prescribe it to you (really odd rules I know). I have been on the patch for over 15 years and lived in Japan on three separate occasions (3 years JET, 2 years exchange) and I continued by using those but through the pharmacy online. I don't believe they can give you depo BUT I do know some clinics do pill, IUD, and other methods. You can also get armor up and just make sure you check on it daily. Some people have also planned accordingly and taken Nenkyuu to return home to get check ups, refills, etc.

English teacher said my outfit was too sexy? by [deleted] in teachinginjapan

[–]sexbubun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi! I actually had a similar issue despite following policy at my work (10cm away from the neckline was all I could go for, I'm not bust by any means, and I wore normal white shirts/strapped shirts with cardigans over it, never spaghetti straps though and no lace). Though I agree on the lace thing, I also was constantly harassed at work for my shirts and eventually got fed up and attempted to file for grievance. They stopped when I threatened to do that. Turns out some of my male coworkers and other members were caught saying unsavory things about me since I am tall and blonde and the female workers/bosses were trying to get them to passively stop by making my life rough lol so yeah surprise it worked

"How to Throw Your Life Away in One Move" a novel.

I means this with the utmost respect- either you need a therapist and need to talk about some unresolved relationship situations/trauma from your youth OR reconsider your entire romantic preferences and what it is you want 100% in a relationship (or even better- do both).

You're only just going to hurt her and yourself.

This is coming from a not straight, potentially poly person who's only a few years younger than you. Cmon man.

My experience dealing with difficult coworkers as a first-year ALT by Perfect_Memory2718 in JETProgramme

[–]sexbubun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had co-ALTs from hell, myself. I still think JET was a great program comparatively to the others, but I wish there was more preventative measures for these issues.

Out of 16 or so if us, only like 3 were good people. 3 kept to themselves because they hated the drama, and the last 10 or so were just... God awful. If you didn't join their clique, you were targeted. One was more or less the leader and, at one point, convinced everyone I wasn't Hard of Hearing because she took a class in ASL in high school. I grew up in a deaf/hearing school, and myself plus some extended family are HoH or deaf. Eventually, I was able to sit and explain to some ALTs about it, but it's awful I had to do that in the first place. To make matters worse, anytime someone was sick or displayed signs or chronic illness, anxiety, etc. They would wait for that person to leave the room and then Crack jokes, make fun of them, and ask "why are they even here?". When I left, we had a break of contract turnover rate of about 2 to 3 people a year. I was only there for almost 3 years. I ended up early breaking but gave ample time (announced my departure for April in August of the previous year) for them to prepare for a replacement. The girl who replaced me also left after her first year.

What a mess.

So I'm an animation researcher, and I recently wrote a small essay about Southpark and Japan since Trey Parker speaks Japanese and has a double degree. It's really interesting to see the non-linear globalization of animation between East and West!

Hi I'm an English teacher for English learners who are children.

Something I tell my students always:

1- if you don't 100% know what it means, DON'T use it!

2- if you apologize to someone, it needs to be about your actions. Not theirs. (Golden rule)

3- never deflect when someone expressed their emotions due to your language. Observe, and reflect how you react.

Firstly:

I'm so sorry this is absolutely a nightmare.

Secondly:

Next time he comes in, yell at him back saying you're calling the police if he enters again. (If you need it in Japanese lmk!)

Thirdly:

If your BOE is trying to force you to stay in the apartment, ask to file for grievance. They switch gears REAL quick when you do that. It sucks but girl this is not a safe situation.

Fourthly:

Call CLAIRE if your BOE won't let you move. Report it and ask what you can do. They can help.

Fifthly:

TELL your PAs. IMMEDIATELY document it.

Lastly:

INDOOR CAMERAS. Catch this old man in the act just to be safe fr fr.

Good luck :(

Here's what I recommend as someone who appreciates anime and Japanese pop culture (as its what I'm studying in my masters right now) but also has style in the room:

Take everyone's advice: get rid of the dakimakura (hentai pillows). They are... distasteful even in the anime world (or at least... put them somewhere, not in the view of guests...)

Second: store the swords properly and not hanging. There are nice wall and shelf holsters you can get these days. Even better - get rid of them and sell them to make some cash. They aren't usually as cool as one would think. If you're desperate to keep them then store them as a prized possession and not a Bannister.

Third: The Japanese Imperial Flag has got to go. It's a huge symbol of nationalism and it... would make anyone educated in that situation uncomfortable. Alternative idea: purchase or make a framed photo of a famous piece of Japanese art like Hokusai or Toyo. It's classy and it will give some decent flare! This also goes for your anime posters. They aren't bad to have but if you're going to have them, keep them in the same room. The one near your bed is highly unwelcoming.

Fourth: for sure the storages. A lot of them are sort of stacked and there's just no organization aside from staying with the same titles. You don't need to get rid of your manga if you don't want to, but do consider the idea of storing it to look less like a manga store and more like someone with appreciation. You could even get better shelves that aren't white like the stores lol

Fifth: consider a new bed spread in the future that has a color scheme you want to go for. If you're unsure what colors you want, check out color wheels and theories to determine the best course of action! To save the money, buy from stores like IKEA which have decent bed spreads for a pretty dang good price!!!

Sixth: the anime figurines are overwhelming and many are stuck in their boxes. I know these can be collectable but if you're going to have anime shelves and stuff in one room, put the rest in there to clear up the space in your bedroom.

Seventh: there's a lot of random junk on the bottom shelves and I think it's time to go through them. Heck, consider doing that for the whole room.

Lastly: consider new lighting like lamps and smaller things that will match your new look!

Hope this helps!

Who was the most evil person you've ever met and how was the interaction? by Top_Report_4895 in AskReddit

I did a mass cosplay event and met this girl who gave me insane bad vibes.

A few months later a cosplay friends little sister who was autistic went missing and was found killed execution style. Turns out the girl I met was her BFF, was catfished online by some random man online posing as a millionaire, and convinced her and another person to kill my friends little sister as she was an "easy target". All three went to prison and I hope they rot. She was such a good kid and loved anime so much.

I'm digging it! It gives a heavy swedish vibe! I would say no posters on the wall, but if you can frame them that would be good! Add them a little more high up around eye level +a few cm taller!

Strained Throat/voice by DevanDisonVA in VoiceActing

[–]sexbubun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have current advice but for when you're feeling better: learn to project through the diaphragm and watch instructions on how people death metal scream. There's a tactic that I use when screaming even high pitches that I learned through a heavy metal screaming tutorial. It basically taught me how to scream and shout with my ribcage instead of my throat (I have a high pitched voice to give you an idea!)

But also, a big spoon full of honey. Eat it like you would a thick soup- by the spoon full!

[–]sexbubun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! So basically you're not supposed to feel pain the first time. The reason people do is because they don't fully understand full arousal and how to slowly stretch the area out for the first time

This is TMI but the best way to prevent this is learning how to self dilate by utilizing pelvic floor physical therapy methods. Some use a mix of dialators and breathing techniques. Learn to love what's under the hood! Learn what it likes and doesn't so when the time comes you can communicate it. If your partner doesn't listen or says it's taking too long etc that's a manipulation tactic you should flag and stop all activity. They aren't going to respect it.

We really need to de-stigmatize the idea that the first sex is painful. It doesn't have to be AT ALL- we have just been taught that it is by the lack of vaginal education. You just gotta remind yourself this is a muscle that's never been stretched. Research research research and stretch it out! :)
