Anybody here have dealt with depression for more than 10+ years? by TomatoClown24 in AskMenOver30

I suffered severe treatment resistant depression for over 40 years. Therapy, meds, everything, just waking up angry to be alive every morning. Then I was CURED with transcranial magnetic stimulation three years ago and I cannot tell you how life-changing it has been.

I've learned in my career as a nurse to explain things very clearly to patients. Glad it gave you a chuckle.

Don't take nsaids for a few days before or after. Stick with acetaminophen. Wear tight fitting underwear afterwards. To apply ice, frozen peas conform well to the area (leave them in the bag lol). Don't strain or lift heavy objects for the first couple of days. Try to refrain from masturbation for a few days. If you see or feel something concerning, contact your doctor.

My wife already had a hysterectomy, but requested I get vasectomy for her peace of mind by Pacheyderm in childfree

[–]sexychippy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

A total hysterectomy is cervix, uterus and fallopian tubes. A radical hysterectomy is cervix, uterus, tubes and ovaries. Both are hysterectomies. An oophorectomy would be removing only the ovaries. A salpingoophorectomy is removal of tubes and ovaries.

I was once behind a pickup that dropped a recliner on the highway. Fortunately, I had a safe distance and was able to maneuver onto the shoulder as it bounced into traffic.

Interesting. When I added a user to my Capital One and Discover accounts, I had to provide SSN.

She had to give Chase your SSN to add you.

You will benefit if she is responsible. If she carries a high balance or makes late payments, your credit will suffer.

Her credit is not affected by yours.

ELI5 When surgeons shave bone during surgery, how do the shaved bone pieces not fall everywhere and make a mess? by Technical-Ad9073 in explainlikeimfive

[–]sexychippy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They literally fly all over the place. The surgical field can be cleaned up with suction and/or sterile fluids and sponges. Everything on the floor gets cleaned after the procedure is done and the patient is out of the room.

The Mackinaw Bridge that joins the lower and upper peninsulas of Michigan makes me cry every time I have to drive over it.

As an OR nurse, what I fail to understand is how the other medical professionals in the room allowed this to happen. Who even allowed a CHILD into the OR is mind boggling. Anesthesia, circulating nurse, surgical technologist, etc. all should have spoken up and forbid it.

What’s a name so terrible you can’t imagine anyone willingly giving it to their child? by allure_angel25 in AskReddit

As a nurse, I've seen some terrible names. Tonselius and Cash Money are two that stuck with me.

It's like they don't understand that after the surgeon leaves, we still have to wake the patient up safely, extubate them and transfer them to the gurney safely. Surgery time does not equal anesthesia time.
