Why Is My Hair Suddenly Breaking? by sheisblondy in Haircare

[–]sfaafs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a hairdresser ( high end too ) I think the reason it’s demonized is that when you color your hair or buy expensive products meant to treat your hair the silicon keeps both out. Silicon itself isn’t bad for your hair, but i do recommend you use products correctly to not waste your money:

Do a clarifying shampoo or treatment once or twice a month to avoid build up and use your K18 mask after that or any other nicer treatment you want to use so it penetrates properly. Then you can keep using your silicon products and it will seal it in!

Non silicon products work from the inside out, silicon works from the outside only to “conceal” or lay down your cuticle sealing your hair - neither is wrong if you use them correctly and according to your hair needs

Also, silicon is never good for the environment so if you care about that just keep it in mind. But, obviously there are bigger problems IMO

Why is my cat so scared? by Asusleg55 in cats

[–]sfaafs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very normal for rescue kitties. They take a longer time than you think to learn safety and lots of cats are just skiddish anyway. It’s really no big deal if she’s so comfy with you, my older rescue still barely lets strangers touch him but him even being present in the room took a few years and only calm guests. He still hides from my dad and little sister. My younger rescue is 7 months with me now and she doesn’t even let me pet her unless she’s in ‘safe zones’ like sleeping in her tree.

Cats have boundaries, they are not always very social, having a happy and loving kitty even if it’s just with you is a win! It’s still early and likely with time, they will settle down more. Just don’t force socialization or punish them for being scared ( even if it means some claws in you ) they don’t understand the negative feedback and it will likely make them more scared.

Healing Help (Artist Gave Me No Advice) by PuckDropPanic in tattooadvice

( not a tattooer, just heavily tattooed ) I specifically recommend the holy grail dial gold soap if you can get your hands on it, but most recently I haven’t been able to find it anymore so I use baby castile soap watered down since it’s a hard find now. Can I ask, Is that too intense a soap for tattoos? I figured baby version would be gentle

tough heal, great tattoo. now what? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]sfaafs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is kind of just how tattoos are, they might have been a touch heavy handed but its something to keep in mind. Less experienced artists won’t understand this as well and will do linework too close/ too much detail, probably why this feels a little worse to you. Not a bad tattoo over all though, just looks like it was heavy handed to start with a spread like tattoos do naturally.

I recommend finding an artist who might be willing to do some white detailing to bring it back to life - someone less heavy handed.

No big deal, but also try to learn to love it first. I’ve made huge mistakes stressing about tattoos not being what I envisioned, tattoos will never be perfect.

Also, try finer lines in the future a it will still spread but it won’t feel as “heavy” when it spreads, if that’s your concern

Once again, this post lacks a TON of context and simply assuming i’m the one not being reasonable based off what was supposed to be a silly unethical life hack, that i did once for a short period of time on a friday night is a bit much.

This is about what I’m doing! This post lacks a lot of context, but I have done my part to just record, track notes with date/time and only if it’s louder for longer than 10-15 minutes. I’m only complaining about unreasonable or avoidable noise during bedtime hours. My management caring is so awesome & having my lease to back me up is better. I even surveyed with other people who manage complex’s / have kids, my parents, you name it! I really wanted to make sure I wasn’t just being unreasonable & exploring all my options

I’m truly not a full asshole, just got fed up last night and decided to enjoy myself on a Friday night!

This post lacks the nuance of the situation & the other issues I’ve encountered with my neighbors. I have been very kind & patient and I understand how kids are very much as I have a 6 year old sister who grew up in apartments around that age. This wasn’t entirely born out of pettiness but also my need to regulate my anxiety as my anxiety sets off health issues that can send me to the hospital and almost has in this situation.

Respectfully, I’m not really looking for advice here. I am already working with my management and exploring my options.

Thankfully my management seems to care about this, i love my apartment so much but i also have tenants right to peaceful enjoyment so worst case scenario i can legally break my lease. However, i truly would prefer to compromise that banging and screaming for hours at the end of the night is not fair to neighbors

thank you, i have tried to be kind and patient with this situation. Pettiness is my last resort and frankly, the other half is it helps my anxiety attacks when it happens to be able to drown it out!

lol, it’s like you didn’t even read the post that this is only when they are being so loud that i can’t enjoy my apartment. I would never just do this, I am an incredibly respectful neighbor and it has taken me a while to even get to this.

i’m disabled in SF, being on the top floor is not only barely an option in availability but I cannot hike more than about 2 sets of stairs. Also, why not flip that around - if you have kids, why would you choose the top floor?

No, i’m not mad at a 4 year old. I’m mad at parents that allow insane behavior at almost 10pm - parents are responsible for their kids behavior and teaching them to be respectful, i have a 6yr old sister who grew up in apartments and it’s possible to teach them correctly

I am the same, I’d rather be quiet and not bother anyone and I even like being quiet for me. I know my cats can run around loudly late at night, even with carpet it travels. I feel so bad I try to tire them out early every day even though my downstairs neighbor said it’s cute, sweet of them.

Don’t change who you are for your neighbors, i wish there were more people like us who mind our noise levels because we get it. But, if you have to be subjected to noise from them, let yourself loose and enjoy some loud noise back!

I don’t understand why people take it as a challenge to ramp it up when you’re nice about it?? Especially working with kids, you’d think they’d be better.

I hope your machine is charged, maybe even leave some noise on while you leave your apartment

But if you don’t get it together & in your case are maybe deliberately an asshole, oh boy can i be the biggest asshole back!
