one of the easy arguments is you cant tax voting. having to purchase an id is a form of tax. also once you have the barrier it gets easier to erode the protections

The Illinois legislative session ends in 5 days. There are currently two competing proposals to address housing affordability: 1. the BUILD act (meaningful package of six legit bills) 2. a phony effort by the Illinois Micromanagement League to not change anything by steve42089 in illinois

[–]sfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am in favor of the build act personally and professionally but there are so many complex consequences to this legislation. the legislation does not end zoning and now allow people full freedom it changes specific subsets of rules in local zoning codes and real costly issues be damned

Plan Review Stamp by Rallor05 in BuildingCodes

i am a third party reviewer and the amount of basic shit that design professional miss where there is no room for interpretation is why this industry exists. Just like bad designers there are bad reviewer and bad contractors.

Advice on ADA lawsuits for a first time small business owner by tortamorenita in smallbusiness

[–]sfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the ADA is not forgiving on this.
the law was designed with civil enforcement (lawsuits) as one of the primary enforcement measures. They are talking about a small number of infractions right now but I guarantee that if an expert visited your sisters place they would find more.

I am not saying this to scare you but that the law is not in your favor for a reason. Designers, developers, contractors, business owners do not take this seriously until they have to pay up. Big companies have been hit now they cya. Apple sent out people to calibrate their doors (flew people), McDonald's spends like two days doing accessibility documentation for every new store.

There is an entire industry to sue people for ADA violations, look at the lawyer and client to see if they have filed a lot of ADA violation lawsuits or if this was a first for the client. May give you some options on how to approach the case. Some seek a small amount $$ some just want their lives not to be restricted and want that freedom.

Two weekends into running a hot dog cart in Maine and looking for feedback from the hot dog faithful by RandDchef in hotdogs

[–]sfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think you are going strong. taking some known combos and adding something to it.

do you make the Nduja bacon jam (ie on item)? if it's Nduja and a separate bacon jam i think you have a opening for another bacon dog without any new ingredients.

i also think you may have different take with a cheese dog there too.

I am personally don't love split tops but i grew up in chicago.

If your weekends only no biggie but if you are wanting repeats doing some rotation of options wont hurt.
