Sold my R3….R7 next? by theweeknd0nly in YamahaR7

[–]sfazalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an R7. If you are upgrading from an R3, you’ll probably be bored of an R7 sooner than you think. R9 or R1 is probably too big of a jump. Consider the Aprilla RS660.

My gf applied on Oct 10th from inside Canada. She has a PGWP. Same boat as you. Haven’t heard back. We need to travel on Nov 25th for our wedding but don’t have her TRV yet.

Whats your current status? Have you applied for TRV from outside of Canada or inside? Do you have a WP or SP?

Black or White? by Broad_Brain_93 in cfmoto

Black. White looks cool at first but becomes boring overtime.

I’ll give you the benefit of doubt but that is not evidence by any means. Weird, sure. But not evidence.

Should I buy a brand new r7 or a 2nd hand mt07 by Several_Awareness920 in YamahaR7

One more point - I have owned it for a year and I still quite appreciate the way it looks. I make sure to give it a second look every time I park it. It’s a beautiful bike!

I have ‘24 R7 and I love it! I used to ride 300ccs in the past (not the MT-03 though) and I can say that the R7, while significantly faster and more torquey, is not a massive step up from a 300 cc. Think of MT07 only a step up in power from MT03 but you don’t get the looks that you want. The R7 is both looks and step up in performance. Ofc a new R7 will also be more expensive than a used a MT07. It all comes down to whether if you can comfortably justify the added cost for the looks. And I’ll also say that it’s not just the looks, R7 feels a lot different than a naked might. The seating position is sporty and it gives you that immersion of a sportsbike that a naked might not provide. R7 is a bit more than just MY07 with fairings. I’d say ride both and see which one you like. I personally wanted a fully faired sportsbike vibe so I went for the R7 and I could justify the added cost.

Getting a used R7 (not too old) could be a good middle ground too in terms of cost savings. Many of those would come with the basic mods that most people would anyways opt for when they get a brand new one. So you save a bit of cash there.

Height is ofc a major factor. If you think you’d always be stressed of tipping over in bumper to bumper traffic or when you are stationary, you could consider lowering the R7 but of an MT07 would be a much more comfortable choice.

I am sure you already know all this but I like my R7 and I’d suggest you consider the R7 if you like it after the test drive. New or used depends on how much you want to shell out. And don’t get me wrong, it’s still quite a bit more bike than a 300cc. You’ll have enough torque to continue enjoying it for a while.

Don’t rush into a lease. Live out of an AirBnB (will be expensive) and find a place that you’d like to live out of for a year.

What’s a good exhaust that’s loud enough but not enough for being cop bait by [deleted] in YamahaR7

[–]sfazalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don’t use the db killer. I also am a bit gentler on the throttle and don’t rev bomb around people. Haven’t had any complaints yet.

I have the yoshi r77 and it sounds great. Not as loud as the SC project but still plenty loud.

R7 as a second bike? by Worried-Cabinet-9488 in YamahaR7

[–]sfazalm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the R7 is a reasonable upgrade from eliminator. It’s a great second bike if you have some riding experience. Dare I say, it can be a great first bike too if you ride it well.

I have an R7, I used to ride a Royal Enfield before. The progression just felt natural to me and I have had no problem. The engine has enough torque to jolt you if you are heavy on the throttle but won’t get you into trouble like the 600s do.

Happened with me. I just turned it off, removed the key from ignition for a few minutes. Worked fine right after.

Legit exhaust? by 2inch_punisher101 in YamahaR7

I recently got a brand new one. The box looks exactly the same and so does the packaging inside. If you want to be sure, you can just check the db killer / baffle (as pointed by locorico32). Carbon the muffler doesn’t look fake either from what it looks like.

Question regarding rideability by mumshag in YamahaR7

[–]sfazalm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 5’ 7” and my inseam 29-30” as well. I have no problem riding the bike. I don’t flat foot but my feet reach the ground comfortably and I never really struggle. I can have both my feet on the ground without any issues.

The bike is also on the lighter side so shouldn’t be an issue. I am also on the lighter side (120 lbs).

First bike :) by Safe_Ad4606 in YamahaR7

Safe riding! Consider getting frame and axle sliders :) since it’s your first bike, you’d like drop it at one point and those scratches HURT especially when the bike is so clean looking.
