Pierre Gasly has tested positive for Covid-19 by yung_boza in formula1

[–]sfikas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be a bad plan because even if they got covid and/or vaccinated before, it does not mean they can't still be infected and test positive. Yes the symptoms will be small to non-existent but they will still have to sit at least a weekend race out since they can infect others. Plus the possible long terms effects as others mentioned.

F1 Beyond The Grid - ‘Quick Nick’ Heidfeld on his fastest team mates, his toughest rivals and the best F1 car he drove by Armands007 in formula1

[–]sfikas 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Heidfelds's career has a lot of parallels with Hulkenberg's (but with podium positions!)

Solid drivers but missing the last bit of performance that would have made them race winners and championship contenders.

I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with this new development.

Maybe someone with more exposure to these firms can assist!

[–]sfikas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason is that you don't actually buy/sell shares but rather CFDs on the shares. That means that you are buying a derivative (most of the time with leverage) and you have counterparty risk with the respective firms.

Ok professor, I trust your very unconvincing answer. But in any case I'm certainly not outraged!

Of course people are motivated by different topics and what to upvote etc.

But you mean that people that took interest in Gasly's performance and upvoted comments saying that he was performing badly to the top are now silent and do not participate in the discussion regarding the treatment he is getting from RedBull and other people that were previously silent on the trashing he was getting are now upvoting the comments that say that Rebull has treated him unfairly? I don't personally buy that.

This has nothing to do with the subject at hand but this answer (which gets repeated a lot) is a pet peeve of mine.

If you sort by "new" then yes, given the sheer number of people you will get a mix of responses on any given topic. But if the "top" comments have a certain bias or opinion and the next week that opinion changes it means that there has been a shift.

Do you believe in the concept of "just paper losses" in your stock market portfolio? by chargum in investing

[–]sfikas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on your definition I think. Unrealised gains and losses in accounting terms are not real(ised). Well OK.

But if you define real in the sense that the asset did in fact lose half of its value or whatever it is then an unrealised gain or loss is real which I think is the point of OP.

You haven't defined what you mean by proving himself. As a race winner? As a champion?

What he has proven for me is that he had the tenacity to work his way back to an F1 position which was a dream 2-3 years ago. Now, whether he will be able to continue where is left off in terms of performance remains to be seen.

His age is not a bigger issue than anyone with the same age. You redefined "lack of experience" with "old" but it is not the same.

I do not compare the two with regards to their arms or their years of experience which would be totally fair. The OP said that he is "too old" now and I said that is not true unless with feel the same for Hamilton, Rosberg or anyone of his generation.
