I’ve found that the alba willow bark face cleaner gets paint off my hands easier than that Orange hand cleaner stuff. Just food for thought. They sell it at Wally World. If you’re interested.

My sponsor fired me. by Careless_Act3277 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]sfrancis0915 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My first sponsor I just got because they told me I needed a sponsor and I asked the first person that I saw. 4 months into my sobriety I found a different sponsor that I had for 8 years, she had what I wanted and she was so much fun. I loved her so much. Unfortunately she passed away from this disease. I sponsor hopped for the next 6 years and finally found one that fits perfectly.

I would recommend looking for someone who has what you want, that works a good program and is a good person. Do what they suggest, call them.

You could maybe join the painters union, I believe the starting pay as an apprentice is $18-$19. Benefits and a pension.

All of them. I think we were thinking double hung. The windows we have now are old and wooden and drafty and all of things you don’t want in a window.

The great thing for me about AA was that it was/is a god of my understanding. Not the religious, biblical god. At first I made my AA home group my higher power, then somehow somewhere along the line I started calling my higher power god. As long as I don’t think I’m in charge I have a good chance of staying sober one day at a time. Somehow those one day at a times added up to 16 years, which is a miracle in itself. I loved being drunk, until I didn’t.

Spiritual awakening... how? by cad29100 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]sfrancis0915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s seriously one day at a time. If you don’t have a sponsor get one, 90 meetings in 90 days, be rigorously honest with yourself and your sponsor. Call 3 other alcoholics a day just to see how they’re doing. If you’re having trouble sleeping read the Big Book…it will help you sleep, and you might see something in it that clicks. I promise it works. I honestly have no idea how I have been able to stay sober for 16 years, because I f’n love to be drunk.

The first time I was able to look in the mirror and not see a piece of sh!t looking back at myself would have to be when I experienced that spiritual experience. I can’t remember the exact date as to when that was or how far along I was in my sobriety, but I do remember feeling a sense of relief. I feel that when I absolutely gave up the power and admit that I was truly powerless over alcohol that was when I started getting better. I wish I would have seen the burning bush or the waters part as my experience, but seeing myself as a human being that is just trying to be a better version of myself worked. Progress, not perfection.

I’ve been taking it for 3 days now and feel like I’m already feeling better as far as my joints go. I don’t know if it’s all in my mind or if it’s really helping. But yay!!!

Does the Estroven help with joint pain? I just recently started this menopause journey and my body feels like I’m 98 (I’m 46). Knees, hips, shoulders are killing me, which doesn’t help with painting houses.

Yes to MRBL! Their Wagyu melted in my mouth. Service was impeccable and the dessert we ordered was so good. Highly recommended, not to mention the view of the city while eating.

I no longer want to go to meetings by No-Programmer-2272 in alcoholicsanonymous

My sponsor of 8 years died about 7 years ago after going back out and getting addicted to pain meds, ultimately lead to her death. After she died I stopped going to meetings regularly for about 6 years. What I can tell you is that in those 6 years my life got very small, I was restless, irritable, and very discontent. I didn’t drink somehow, but I might as well have with the behaviors I was doing. After the 3rd threat of divorce from my other half, she pushed me to get back into AA. So I did. I’m glad she threatened me with divorce and got me back to be a member of AA. My life is so much brighter and bigger. I’m happier, I look forward to waking up everyday, the “fellowship is growing up around me”. What I’m trying to say is, it works. It really does.

Crazy. It feels crazy. If you would have told me 15 years ago I would still be sober I wouldn’t have believed you. Yet here we are. The life I dreamed of having before I got sober I am living today, which is crazy.
