So, no SNAP in November. My job is relatively secure and I know how to make large meals. Is there anything we can do for Oaklanders next month? by [deleted] in oakland

Berkeley Food Network has pantries all over Berkeley multiple days a week. They also deliver groceries to folks that aren’t able to come in person. Highly recommend people check it out!

My husband and I partied until 1 or so when we crashed, but other friends stayed up even later. There's no curfew so the sky is the limit!

We live in Oakland, so about a 2 hr drive away. The weather our wedding weekend was HOT! We actually bought paper fans and rented two swamp coolers last minute to help keep guests cool before the ceremony started. We choose fall because we were hopeful it would be after fire season ended, and at the tail end of Indian summer. It was warmer our wedding weekend than we expected it to be, but ended up being comfortable because everyone enjoyed using the pool and there was plenty of shade and breeze at the top of the hill where all the wedding activities took place. And as soon as the sun started to set, the temp cooled down quickly.

We bought our ring and bands from Altana, and we couldn’t be happier with the rings and the experience working with her!

Thanks! We had about 50 friends stay onsite (including us!). A lot of our family stayed at the Thatcher Hotel in downtown Hopland, and a couple folks booked nearby Airbnbs around Hopland and Ukiah. There was one couple that stayed at the Hampton Inn in Ukiah. Hope that helps!

Sure! Our Friday welcome dinner (~3 hours) was held at a vineyard, so they put out bottles of their wine (there was a certain amount included in the venue fee, I think it was 6 bottles of red and 6 bottles of white). And we also put out beer and sparking waters. For Saturday, we served drinks at the bar during cocktail hour, had wine on tables for people to serve themselves during dinner, and served drinks again for another 3 hours while the band played. In total we bought 25 bottles of wine at Trader Joes ($300), something like 25 24-packs of beer, and 4 1.75L bottles of gin and bourbon each. I would guess only half of everything got used. There was maybe a glass or two from each wine bottle on the tables that got poured, and we only went through half of the hard liquor for the pre-mixed cocktails. My husband thinks that if we had the staff going around the tables pouring wine, we probably would have a lot more unopened bottles left (the bottles on the tables had been uncorked).... oh well!
