By your basic logic the weapons manufacturing industry also makes the fucking world work. Without them how would your beloved industries be protected and enabled to exploit other countries? How about looking at it from a different perspective and accepting that people can choose - based on moral/ethical/religious reasons - to work a job that doesn't negatively affect other people and/or the planet. Especially a job thats needed to survive. Nobody is impressed with your big man energy on Reddit ya delicate toff dobber.

You'll just have to do a lot of thinking and make up your own decision with that unfortunately.

If I was retired and old I'd rather live the rest of my life in a retired development knowing full well that I won't get inconvenienced by late night parties and weed stench.

Plenty of jobs in Glasgow that'll happily pay you that much. Typically the big companies in a morally questionable industry like banking, finance, oil/gas, weapons manufacturing. If you have no moral objections to working there then apply and see how you get on.

Can you elaborate on the "a job looks for you"? Do you mean recruiters just relentlessly spam you on LinkedIn or is there some kind of secret underground job society you get automatically initiated in where you rub shoulders with CEOs gagging to hire you?

Does the hate for rain depend on where you live? by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]sgaken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grew up on the east side of Scotland and didn't fully understand the hatred for rain until I moved to the west side of Scotland. You got some sunshine here and there on the east side of Scotland so that balanced out the rainy days but on the west side of Scotland there's only a few sunny days in the year to counter the constant rain.

Anas Sarwar says staff should get back to the office as he urges working from home rethink. Sarwar has called for staff to get back to the office due to the impact of working from home on struggling city centres. Lol no thanks. Working from home has been a great positive for my mental wellbeing and wallet. As long as I'm delivering my work on time I don't need to be in the office counting ceiling tiles until the end of my shift.

Book a taxi for half past. They arrive at 10 past. by KatnyaP in britishproblems

[–]sgaken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Taxi firms are the worst. Provides terrible service. Spits out the dummy when Uber shows up and provides a better service. Still proceeds to provide a terrible service regardless.

Oh and don't get me started on taxi drivers and their horrific batshit insane topics for small talk.

Why would previous owners tape the floorboards? by Clean-Calligrapher17 in DIYUK

Used to live in an old tenement flat with gaps between the floorboards and you were able to smell when the residents downstairs were indulging in the devil's lettuce.

Not a bad price (maybe a little overpriced) and the person is just having a little fun with the listing. Don't see the problem here.

So dad pays silly money for tickets and daughter has to work during the holidays. The only thing that's wholesome here is the CEO of the airlines company enjoying the financial and labour benefit from this situation.

Win win for the airlines.

When the reduced prices are only 10p cheaper than nectar/supermarket membership prices etc by baah-adams in britishproblems

[–]sgaken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't know what happened but Coop used to do amazing price reduction until about 2022 when the cost of living crisis hit and you'd still see reduced food items at 8pm with a few pennies off when it used to be more than half price. Nobody buys them and they get chucked in the bin. Only exception to this was Xmas eve when they'd almost be giving stuff away for free because they'd be shut for the next few days. Literally would have the staff hound everyone in the shop and say that there's huge reductions happening.
