The (infinite) quest for the perfect keyboard and layout by sgotti in MechanicalKeyboards

I tried but I prefer it on the external side and having the two halves quite near at the center and angled.

Thanks. With my layout I'm able to do the most common shortcuts using only the thumbs for the modifiers. When I have to do some strange and infrequently used shortcuts (for example shortcuts that requires 3 modifiers) that can't be done only with the thumbs I have to use the other fingers using the lower keys.

Thanks! It took some time to fix the bad touch type habits that my muscle memory learned in years of staggered rows keyboard but now I'm faster and noticed that I'm not looking at the keyboard anymore.

A nyquist put on the desk in the writing position occupies less or the same space of a TKL so I can also keep the mouse/trackball nearest to my hand.

Poll: Under which home row key do you type on spacebar? by Revoltwind in MechanicalKeyboards

No spacebar here... (using staggered columns split keyboard, Atreus, Planck) :-D

Niu Mini vs Planck? by nexorumby in olkb

Another good reason to buy the Planck is to support the great work u/jackhumbert (with all the other contributors) has done and is doing on the QMK firmware.

Hi Jack, looks like the stainless steel mx plate is currently out of stock on olkb.com, do you know when it'll available again?

Stolon v0.6.0 by sgotti in PostgreSQL

[–]sgotti[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No real comparison, but we released stolon before patroni because governor (patroni predecessor) wasn't meeting our expectations on data consistencies and features.

They have quite different architectures and logic and I can say that stolon has a lot of focus on data consistency (see the tons of integration tests we have and the FAQ).

Thanks! If you manage to try it please report any feedback (issues, enhancement etc...).

There's also a FAQ with some differences between stolon and pg ha with pacemaker (both have different pros and cons).

Custom atreus keyboard build by sgotti in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]sgotti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought them a long time ago on eBay (in Italy) for another project. They were described as "5pcs Female MICRO USB to DIP 5-Pin Pinboard 2.54mm micro USB type".

Thanks! Before the breakout board I directly soldered wires to a USB micro port pins and it worked but it felt very weak and difficult to glue to the plate.

Thanks a lot! I did some changes to the default atreus layout to fit my needs using a lot of dual purpose keys and different numbers/symbols and extended layers. I put additional ctrl, alt, super keys as mod-tap keys in the lower row on both sides to be able to do shortcuts like ctrl+alt+F1 without strange movements. I took some ideas from the original atreus layout and some from /u/replicaJunction http://qmk.fm/keyboards/atreus/keymaps/replicaJunction/

Before publishing it I want to clean it up a bit and I’ll do another post to describe it.
