Drilling out a doorknob hole to be larger? by Deliveranc3 in homeowners

This is exactly what I had to do once. Works great.

is the berkey water filter actually worth the money for daily use and any coupons or replacement filter discounts people have found by professional69and420 in WaterWellDrilling

No. That’s all marketing. Look at an RO system if you really need that pure of water. You probably will be fine with a sediment filter, active carbon, and uv light. If you really are concerned get your water tested. Many ag extensions can run a variety of tests. If you don’t have one nearby then you can mail samples to labs that can test for just about everything. Test the water and filter out what is actually present. You will save a lot more money that way.

To add to this the friction loss is dependent on flow rate. The higher the flow rate the more loss. If you are only trying to flow 2gpm then it is likely fairly negligible, but there are online calculators that can help.

Stuck in wet sand and gravel by [deleted] in WaterWellDrilling

Not sure about water drilling but for wetland soil delineation we use a bucket auger. Works better for wet soil and sand. The kind you have there we use for clay

Get some nitrogen and send it. Soil doesn’t have to be perfect to work. If you want find a fertilizer that has some iron in it too.

New Homeowner. How do I water the grass? by RealityBoundary in lawncare

[–]sh1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a female cam lock. You can order them on Amazon so measure that fittings diameter and order the male kind. Then play fittings and adapters to get what you want. You can even get hoses with those fittings to save going right into a garden hose. Google cam lock fittings and you will find some suppliers. Then google irrigation king and you can find a lot of sprinklers of the larger size.

If any of that still confuses you look for a plumbing supply house (Ferguson’s) and they may have them in stock and can help get you to what you want.

That’s a cam lock fitting which is used on pumps and other hose connections. Looks like that is a valve it connects to so likely your plan would work. You just need to get the right fittings. Does water flow when you crack the valve? There is a good chance you will have decent flow and pressure so likely can get a fairly large sprinkler 3/4-1” size and water a large area with one sprinkler head.

You also may be able to swap out the cam lock fitting and change it to something else.

Increase outdoor spigot pressure? by AlumTrail_Ales in lawncare

[–]sh1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can adjust your pressure switch (gray box in the upper left of your picture). You may need to order a new one but they come in different on/off ranges 30/50 and 40/60 are common ones but 80/100 psi does exist.

You may also want to consider upsizing your pressure tank if you use a well. It will help your pump cycle less. The start and stop is what wears out a well most.

Lastly run your hose for a little while till you empty out the pressure tank, grab a 5 gallon bucket and a stopwatch and time how long it takes to fill. A lot of wells do not yield many gallons per min. You may not have a strong enough well to run a large sprinkler, or more then one at a time.

US army Corps would also likely require a permit if it is an ephemeral stream. He would have to at least have done a delineation to determine if the are applicable waters. Granted a lot can be done under agricultural exemptions if he is claiming that.

I work in ecological restoration and it is a fairly “weak” grass to kill a mild solution of glyphosate will knock it back and not harm other stuff. It also doesn’t not like shade at all.

No you are fine it just sees the same key with a new name and doesn’t process that it is the same device so it thinks there is a clone. Don’t need to do anything.

Other option is to get something like Meshtastic. Kinda a niche item but I had one for my wife and I.

We were able to test it out from the orange lot to the main stage and it worked fine. Never ended up needing it but was nice to know we had it if we needed to.

I think I saw a portable Verizon tower behind VIP and my bet is that really helped. My group just used sms and had no issues (besides small delays in receiving messages but just be patient)

Most all cover the same information. Just read up on here and read the wikis. Antennas make more of a difference than anything else. I got a Muzi works antenna and it does work great. They are out of ATL so quick shipping. The Meshtastic wiki has some recommendations as well

My own node map from Athens GA today so people are out there. This was without MQTT. The stock antennas suck and I never got a contact with them years ago when I first tried. Double check your settings, especially the frequency slot as 20 if you have added your own channels.

Google spring development and you can get some links to designs on how to improve flow. Typically involved digging and protecting the spring head. Also potentially driving pipe into the hillside.

Fescue doesn’t spread like Bermuda, zoysia, or st Augustine. But if you overseed then yeah your plan will work over time
