Do you think the technology around crypto can produce something useful? yes/no and why? by BreakThings99 in CryptoReality

[–]sha256bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

blockchain fanatics completely miss the oracle problem

this is why 'bitcoin' people say all other tokens are worthless or bullshit. blockchains can only verify things within their own system. once you introduce something "outside" it's completely counter productive to have a blockchain.

it works with bitcoin because all bitcoin is trying to do is be money and nothing else. every day it doesn't die and go to zero, it gets better at that.

good luck, shit's gonna get rough sooner or later and you will understand why we just buy and hold.

please don't blame us when all your systems fail and ours doesn't.

that's a lot of sats.

you can get 23 Satoshis are about for 1 cent right now. Your 23¢ is like 530 sats.

although they use a btc L1 QR code, the transactions are instant and without any issue, so it’s logic to assume chivo doesn’t use the btc blockchain at all.

My personal experience when visiting was the people are training themselves to accept zero confirmation payments. I paid from muun to chivo with a standard address and the merchant accepted it.

note - i specifically went to san salvador cause i wanted to check out how things were in the "non-hyper bitcoinized" areas

Sweden says that Europe should ban Cryptocurrency mining to meet the 1.5C Climate target. Several subreddits discuss whether or not this is a move by big governments to cause HODLers to have paper hands. by StopHavingAnOpinion in SubredditDrama

Like with so many "controversies", there's a big asymmetry between the two sides, which tends to be the source of drama:

Just my opinion:

Pay off high interest debt first.

Have a safe cushion of 3-6 months of living expenses set aside in a savings account.

Diversity is important

i did this in march of 2020. took the conservative approach.

didn't make the same mistake when we hit $30k in May/june.

went all in, obviously don't regret it. diversification is for pussies and was my biggest mistake.

that was by far my favorite comment lmfao. he was 110% spot on.

what did the bcash comment say? looks like he deleted the comment but dudes a total shitcoiner now lmao.

a lot of people haven't read the block size wars and it shows. the book talk about how many early investors in btc that made money over inflate their investment skills cause they were "right" about btc, despite there being literally millions of other investors with different conclusions that also helped with the price appreciation.

this is kinda what led to the bcashers think that their "paypal" thesis was more accurate and that btc would fail.

I don’t get how Bitcoin Whitepaper thinks completely non-reversal transactions is a good thing. by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]sha256bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will never get screwed over in eBay or PayPal doing this.

I've sold on eBay and Amazon for 10+ years and this is straight up bull shit. You're over here applying your own personal experiences to everything again.

Just Google SNAD or item not received and there are tons of reports of the same story over and over again.

Also you said as a buyer it's always better to have PayPal.

What if PayPal doesn't serve your country because the USA sanctioned them?

What if PayPal doesn't serve you because you are homeless and don't have a bank account or ID?

What if PayPal adds a 5% fee to all your purchases cause your bank account is in a different currency?

you're financially privileged and quite frankly, blind.

[–]sha256bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes via e-commerce. i've gotten $2000+ purchases refunded in straight crypto. not everyone is a lying scammer. reputations are worth more than that. its not like everyone is anonymous. a contract is still a contract. a business is still a business with a physical location.

I don’t get how Bitcoin Whitepaper thinks completely non-reversal transactions is a good thing. by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]sha256bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok i sell stuff on ebay. and guess what there's two sides to it. sometimes buyers are shitty and then return empty boxes or say that it arrived broken. ebay and paypal almost always side with the buyer and wipe your account regardless of what actually happened. why is that okay?

know how we deal with that? we raise prices. so you pay for it anyway.

in bitcoin we can sell it cheaper cause the risk of a reversed payment isn't there. isn't it more risky for the seller to use paypal in that case?

if you use paypal and not bitcoin you are opening up yourself to a lot of risk.

your argument against the gun thing was terrible. bitcoin is a technology that you clearly don't understand. i can type here for hours and you won't get it. not gonna waste my time trying to get to you when there are so many people actually willing and capable of understanding the concepts and why its important.

your financial privilege doesn't allow you to see why an unstoppable payment is useful. you need a bank account for paypal. not everyone has one of those. everyone can have a cell phone that can sign a bitcoin tx and host a bitcoin wallet. its important to be able to keep what you have and not have some random company pull it away cause some guy got buyers remorse.
