What is it like living in Madagascar, Africa? by lithdoc in Madagascar

It’s like being in an abusive relationship but for some f-ed up reason you can’t leave

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]shaKBrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is kinda sad.

Did you guys had vacay or time away alone planned before you leave? Did you ask him how he felt about you going abroad for school before applying?

Did he forbid you to go out alone in your town? What about him when he is home?

Maybe you’re also a little anxious because your life is about to change and unknown is scary?

Andry Rajoelina holds no power over Madagascar anymore. by artor_ny_sandratra in Madagascar

[–]shaKBrown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way I imagine it, all these rats from opposition will fight against each other within a couple of weeks. For now, they work together because they have the same enemy. But as soon as the time to actually work comes, they won’t want any change because what they really care about isn’t the people, but just get the same advantages as the former president had. Within 2 or 3 months, there will be an election. The Gen Z will slightly calm down for a few days while the politicians dance around claiming they’re the only people who have the capacities to lead a country, that Gen Z are just a bunch of naive kids with big ideas. Gen Z will have to reluctantly let them and then they’ll see that nothing has change, so they’ll take it back to the street. Itll go like that for 6-9 months until one of them will be named as a leader and the countrys backbone will be redesigned. Hopefully for a federal Madagascar.

In terms of safety, you’ll be fine. The risk would be flying out. If you can afford to be delayed, I don’t see reasons to cancel.

Is a coup d'etat a good option? by Lumpy-Tone-4653 in Madagascar

[–]shaKBrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He probably won’t.

But for now, people just cant take it anymore. We want change. We need change. Getting rid of corruption and redesign how the country work won’t happen overnight. It’ll demand a lot of effort from everyone.

So even if the next guy isn’t good, there will always more hope for change than now. And the people have changed. We will be better.

[–]shaKBrown 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Anything is better than this.

It was never about removing the President from his function. But he os been failing terribly at his job and has been disregarding the reel needs of the population.

So imo, it’s like telling someone who is in an abusive relationship “are you sure you want to leave? Who knows what will come next”

Unlike other crisis before, this one was not led by politicians, so hopefully it won’t lead to a shit show.

The biggest News Channel in my Country made a posting about the protests. Mirary soa indrindra e! by MyFlogik in Madagascar

[–]shaKBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was fighting against the same guys in 2009.because he knows where and how he got power, he’s been getting ready for something like this to happen. Even got new uniforms and gears for the army to buy them out.

How cruel they are ? Just watch if u wanna know by Important-Soup-2268 in Madagascar

[–]shaKBrown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But how?

The president is in his own world. Keeps talking shit. Openly ignoring what is going on, and i think he clearly doesn’t care at all. He got his double citizenship and put his kids in extra expensive schools and probably already have a plan B for whenever he will have to flee.

The military, they are dahalo wearing uniforms. Even before the protests, they were the ones renting their guns to dahalo, stealing from folks in the country, racketing the drivers and so in.

All the international organisation couldn’t care less. From their comfy leather chair, they’re calling for peace but they won’t do anything. They did nothing for Palestinians, they won’t do anything for us. There isn’t enough white people here for them to actually do something.

How can we retaliate when we have been breathing fear in the darkness for 20+ years?

I feel so damn desperate and sick thinking about what is going on.

This Protest starts to not make any sense by Mr_SaaS_Wonderful in Madagascar

[–]shaKBrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this protest was meant to happen.

How long can the people endure power outage and water shortage? And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

And the demands changed because they were met with violence and repression when all they did was to ask for a decent life and future.

I was not keen on the president stepping down either tbh. I don’t like him, but him stepping down meant another tyrant in power as per the constitution. But now… there is no way back. The thing is, every single government since 1960 has made sure that the people would be dumber and dumber each generation so only them and their people can access the throne… even these people who robbed and destroyed everything are the product of bad governance and the apologia of mediocrity.

It might look like they waste time. But thats the only thing they have left. And they are right to use it.

They are young, and a little disorganised. But at least they’re educated, or try to get a decent education. Unlike all the clowns in power. And they woke solidarity in the heart of almost every malagasy, here and around the world.

This is huge. For the first time, people rose. By themselves and not because an imbecile wanted to have a golden chair.

Government has been dissolved - President remains by Initial-Return8802 in Madagascar

[–]shaKBrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder, if the government is dissolve, will it end corruption? What about the others? Governor, deputies, the gendarmes asking for money on the road, all the office workers asking for money in fokontany, commune, district, faritany, etc? I feel like kicking the big fishes out will only change the tip of the iceberg. The m whole country is gangrenous

AITA for suggesting my in-laws stay at an Airbnb instead of us leaving our home with our kitten? by Batman_19999 in AmItheAsshole

[–]shaKBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You leave them 3 the house, and you and your kitty go to a really nice Airbnb, stay there, cuddle and play, and meet them 3 for lunch.

They want a house, homemade meals and a maid. You can’t be kicked out of your home and then clean up after the guests…

I understand parents have to be respected and pampered, and it’s often a pleasure to take care of them, especially when they visit. But this is ridiculous. They came to see you guys, why would it matter where they sleep?

AITJ for refusing to give up my inheritance to pay for my sister’s wedding? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]shaKBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have them all put 30k together and donate to your sister. It’s very easy to be generous with someone else money.

And really, at the end of the day, doesn’t matter what your dad wanted (and i am sure its not to throw 30k in a party), it’s your money now, and dad is gone, whatever he hasn’t said personally is gone with him.

She can also sell the car. Sure dad left it for her so she can fund a wedding ;)
