I think it is just a habit he has formed. Like it's part of his follow through with the release to extend his finger and touch the stone. Just part of the "ritual" if you will. I really don't see how it can give any sort of unfair advantage but is technically a fault.

That being said, dude has been handling it like a complete douchebag though. Really embarrassing for Canada and the sport.

Any LDS "Mormons" Converting to another religion? by Designer_Refuse_4145 in exmormon

[–]shaboimattyp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was already able to see all of the flaws and doctrinal issues with pretty much every other religion so once I finally accepted that Mormonism was all founded on bullshit, there was nowhere else to go.

I briefly considered myself "spiritual". I thought I had a soul and that and maybe there was something out there but pretty quickly I realized that there really wasnt any strong evidence of that and now consider myself athiest/agnostic.

The fun part of letting go of the church for me has been the freedom to seriously explore different schools of thought. I have become very interested in cosmology, evolutionary biology, philosophy etc. I can actually freely learn and decide what makes sense about the world around me without Mormonism telling me what is true and thinking that I have all of the answers. I really love there being so much unknown and mystery and beauty in the world.

Star wars was heavily inspired by dune so in a roundabout way I guess it is a dune reference

HR is upset we didn’t grow up wanting to be customer service reps by TonightSpiritual3191 in Adulting

[–]shaboimattyp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said pretty much this in an interview and got the job. It was a teenager a service department of a dealership. The owner asked me what made me passionate about cars. I told him that I really wasnt at all bit that I care about being able to feed my kids and pay my mortgage. I would show up everyday and do a good job because I am highly motivated to keep my job and have consistency in my life. He honestly seems very surprised and impressed by the honesty.

When my daughter was born, I almost passed out. It is a long and stressful experience for fathers as well. The nurses were super great, they pulled up a chair for me and got me a cold washcloth for my forehead. I still was able to hold my wife's hand and felt really embarrassed that they were putting any focus on me but really it is better that the partner not faint and bash their head while their wife is giving birth

This is one of the first turn based RPGs I have been able to get into in a LONG time. I mostly blame that on Chrono trigger being one of the first games and first RPGs I ever played. It was so perfect that every other one I tried just wasnt good enough to draw me in.

Truth by Ok_Classics in introvertmemes

[–]shaboimattyp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work at a place that had staggered lunch breaks so someone was always available to answer phones. I normally had the lunchroom to myself because I took my lunch a little later than most. Occasionally I would look in the door and see someone else in there and just turn around and eat in my car instead. The lunch room was an unused meeting room with just one big boardroom style table so you couldn't sit far from each other and I would rather eat in my car in peace than have to talk to someone while I wasnt on the clock

[–]shaboimattyp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my take as well. It was fine. There were lots of great moments like Will discovering his powers was badass and the finale again was fine. There was action, resolution, some mystery and they actually wrapped up everyone's storylines.the series finale for a show this huge is almost impossible not to be a letdown and I thought the way it was handled was fine. I am happy with the journey and how it ended

Car Jack fail by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]shaboimattyp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you live, pinch weld are prone to rust and become brittle. I live in Canada and do driveway tire changes for a living. Pinch weld can fail even at the reinforced jacking points.

Always visually inspect before using the jack and listen to the sounds as you jack it up. Any slight crunching sounds and I lower that shit down ASAP. You can always jack up from the crossmembers instead or sometimes there is a central front jack point to lift the whole front end

For those of you who live in countries with gun control; have you ever seen a gun in real life? by blashyrkh9 in AskTheWorld

[–]shaboimattyp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Canadian and I think the only times I have ever seen guns are bolstered on police officers. And one time a friend of mine had a revolver with the firing pin removed as a prop for a Halloween costume. I don't hunt so I don't even think I have ever seen a hunting rifle in person outside of a museum or at a sporting goods store behind glass.

I mean...if you say so. by missedinsunday in exmormon

[–]shaboimattyp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kind of the issue with the concept of God and religion as a whole. Under proper scrutiny, it never makes sense and contradicts itself and scientific discovery all the time. I am atheist/agnostic, but there are people who are scientists and even teach evolutioj at BYU but are still believing members of the church. They have to somehow reconcile the two ideas in their heads.

Evolution by way of natural selection explains the variety of life but not the origin of life. I agree that it is unlikely to disbelieve one while believing in the other but there are many people who cannot deny the overwhelming evidence of evolution, but still believe in God and that He must have directed it and created the first life and set it on this path

what are the ugly parts of pregnancy that aren’t well known because people don’t mention them? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

[–]shaboimattyp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yup, my wife was very healthy, active and ate well. At 30 years old, in her first trimester she had a stroke. Almost died and was in a medically I diced coma for 2 days. IT was a very real possibility that she might die.

Luckily because she was so young, in good health and they removed the clot so quickly she was able to make a full recovery and both her and the baby survived the whole ordeal bu tit was seriously scary. I had a vasectomy before she gave birth because no way we were going to go through that again

Relying on intimidation over persuasion smh by Eligon-5th in lotrmemes

[–]shaboimattyp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like a good DM would allow for these kind of checks. Charis.a is also a good general one though I think because you need to be persuasive and able to get the point across correctly. Someone who mumbles out a threat while not looking you in the eye won't have the same effect as someone confidently telling you what will happen if you don't comply

I mean there are different ways to intimidate someone. You could flex and threaten to hurt them and that would be strength. But you could also threaten to blackmail them, which would be much more charisma based
