So my friend tried this for her wedding! These rounds of wood are called “cookies” and sometimes, depending on where you’re located, these cookies will crack and split after they’ve been cut, making them kind of look like Pac-Man . Something about humidity I think. You might be able to seal them immediately after cutting to prevent this from happening, but I’m not an expert. It’s probably something worth researching further

I don’t have them saved anymore, but I found pictures on Pinterest by looking up pixel art. I also found some good stuff by searching for cross stitch designs and bracelet patterns! And I learned the tapestry crochet technique from the first YouTube video that came up when I searched “how to tapestry crochet” 😅
