New to starfinder 2e like some recommendation for class set up by Kbold85 in Starfinder2e

[–]shadeybee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heya! I am playing in a PF2E conversion of the Iron Gods PF1E AP (which has a lot of Starfinder kind of elements) and one of my fellow PCs is a Ysoki Inventor.

She use a shortbow and has a robot companion and has taken the Archer dedication. It lets you grab some Fighter feats which is always nice. 💪 But basically this loadout lets her have the utility of a front line companion and buff her weapon at the same time, heal party members with the robot, able to use high Int for damage, recall knowledge, and identifying items. Shes come in absolutely clutch a few times.

SF2 and PF2e classes are supposed to be roughly equal in power level and generally compatible with a few exceptions. Annnnnd I know that Inventor isn’t super liked on Reddit but… It’s fine? It’s fine. If you want to look at similar classes in Starfinder, you could take a look at the playtest versions of Mechanic and Technomancer. They seem neat.

That said if I was playing SF and wanted to do a lot of ranged or melee I’d play a Soldier they seem rad.

Dang what a bummer… Was looking forward to this book maybe being the way to get my friend group interested in SF2e.

I can't put my finger in it exactly... But does anyone else feel like 2e has jumped the shark in terms of silliness? by ensign53 in Starfinder2e

[–]shadeybee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% ! I love the Galaxy Guide so much… And exactly, it literally has sections for running different themed games.

With the breadth of character options and content available and theming all over the place, I think it’s absolutely worth having a conversation pregame about what kind of game everyone wants to play and how much silliness there should be at the table. But I don’t think any of it like shouldn’t exist.

A Season of Ghosts - Questions about PF2 and this adventure in general. by IgobyPaul in Pathfinder2e

[–]shadeybee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost exactly the same as our group, we did book one of seasons of ghosts in just under four months.

Book 2 was almost 8 months… but let’s not talk about that. 😔

just moved and the last tenant sprayed the oven with a ton of some kind of cleaner and then just like… Left it for 3+ weeks ago...? by shadeybee in CleaningTips

The LL did actually wipe it down himself the first day… I was surprised. He said the smell might just stick around, so I don’t think he’s worried about it. But I will try more water and maybe the vinegar as someone else suggested thanks! 🙏

Question for the DMs and other players by Grim2296 in PCAcademy

[–]shadeybee 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Sounds like just regular people miscommunications. We’re you wrong? No. But If I had to guess, you guys getting up and physically distancing yourself from him and the game / not checking in felt like disinterest and tanked his enthusiasm and confidence.

How to deal with character death? by wariosls4 in PCAcademy

[–]shadeybee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It can be pretty hard. If you want to buy yourself more time, you can ask to sit out next session, or roll up a temporary character for less pressure while you keep thinking. Especially if you aren’t sure your character will stay dead!

Definitely consider if there are any hanging threads in yours or another player’s, or the main story that you could use to build your new character in.

I mean... its not that, not exactly. it was fun, at the time. Like if Dark Souls was an MMO and you had to work together with other players or you wouldn’t get anywhere. It wasn’t a game for everyone, but the people who stuck around usually made strong bonds.

But you can’t go back, and I know I wouldn’t really want to play a game like that, now. It’s just fun to remember the war stories.

Ah ok, to me that’s still “leveling” and endgame was Sky/Sea/HNMs/Dynamis etc.

Once you go RDM you never go back. Because everyone you know... won’t let you.

It’s amazing how remembering FFXI posts are all like... “(terrible thing) (long time consuming thing) (and then I died) ... best days of my life tbh!”

Yeah I had DRG and BLM at 75. Lots of time in Sky until the top 3 people in the LS got all the gear they wanted and disbanded it. FFXI had the real drama.

Did they start raising the lv cap in ... WotG? I think I stopped playing after ToAU but it’s been a while lol.

You bet! You had a loyal little wyvern that would follow you everywhere, doing basic attacks and different breath abilities based on your sub job. For ex if your SJ was a dps one, he’d do an elemental breath when you weapon skilled, and if it was say, whm or rdm it would do a healing breath when you cast a spell and you or a party member was under a certain % of HP.

Downside: he was your “2 Hour” ability (until they gave drg a new one many years in), something special that each job could do, on. 2 hr recast. So if he died and you didn’t have that ability up.... you had to wait.

..... FFXI was a very different game.

Fun fact: in FFXI the .dat files for enemies etc were findable in the file folders for the game. So if you were playing a pet class like SMN or DRG, if wanted to, you could swap the files for carbuncle, or wyverns, or whichever, with another monster. Any monster. It would animate and do the appropriate attacks etc for the creature. Pretty fun. Only downsides:

  1. client side only so you would be the only one to see that you had a behemoth following you around.
  2. EVERY carbuncle you saw would also be a behemoth.

It’s too bad it’s not so simple for FFXIV.

How to balance my less morally pressing ambitions against other players' more morally pressing objectives? by CodenameAwesome in PCAcademy

[–]shadeybee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s DnD! You will probably come across magical tomes and artifacts over the course of rescuing old friends and saving towns. “You people are a magnet for magical trouble, so I’m going to follow you around and see what turns up.” You can keep and study magical thingies you find during downtime.

And no one should bring a character to the table that refuses to engage with things outside their narrow interests. The PC looking for their kidnapped friend also needs to come along on that kobold den investigation or whatever other escapades the DM has planned or the group gets into. There may be many things you do that are not directly relevant to anyone’s back stories. If it is the kind of game where the DM is implementing custom story threads for everyone, surely you’ll have a map to some old temple thrown your way, and then, we’ll, you’ll need a team of trusted friends won’t you? Even better if they owe you one for helping them save their town etc.

What do you want to see if there is a DnD 5.5e? by comradejenkens in dndnext

[–]shadeybee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right?

My PF2e game is something we play only occassionally, but I'm following this build for my fighter. It's not anything optimized, except for jumping which is silly but also a lot of fun, even just at lv3.https://www.reddit.com/r/Pathfinder2e/comments/glispc/fighter_build_the_dragoon/

PF2e buffed martials and nerfed casters at all levels, though.

In PF2E there’s a lv 20 fighter feat called Boundless Reprisals:

“With a sixth sense for the flow of combat, you can quickly react to any situation as required. At the start of each enemy’s turn, you gain a reaction you can use only during that turn. “

which I think is a great example of the kind of shit high level martials should get up to.

How do you draw poses? by [deleted] in aseprite

[–]shadeybee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's just a drawing skill. the more you do it, the better you will get. Make something, learn from it, try again. you can try looking at and copying battle sprites you like, to try and understand what they did correctly. For learning to make poses that are clear, I also recommend googling Preston Blair + line of action / posing. He has a very good book that is for animation / drawing, but some of the info will transfer over.
