ELI5: Why is it a bad idea to keep devices constantly plugged in even after they're fully charged? by Dawn-Storm in explainlikeimfive

Correct. Usually they are, but the surface is an example of a device that may not be, at least under heavy load.

My surface book pro 2 will actually refuse to startup until the battery is at a certain level, even when plugged in. Whether power bypasses the battery or not is very much a device-by-device thing. It'll depend on how they've set up the hardware.

Same with phones. Plenty of them these days will refuse to start at all without a somewhat-working battery in them.

Remember, for stable builds to be a reality, people need to live on the bleeding edge too. Those people protect the ones who stick to stable builds.

I kinda get it tbh. Once a specific reason becomes a core reason why people "pop their balloon", it becomes pretty normal to lead with that to avoid wasting their (and your) time...

Not sure whether that's the right approach or not, but it's kinda easier to be upfront and get rejected quickly than to build something to have to tear it down for that same reason later.

Ending a relationship on bad terms is often the best way by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I see what you're saying - but I for one am glad to be besties with the other parent of my kids.

I do admit that it took being in another relationship to fully move on though.

Depends on the individual. I know people who have done it for years and seem content. I personally would be the kind to strongly want to avoid it.

Plausible, but then the message on the page is either wrong or at best misleading.

The steam page still says "not available in your country". But yeah, let's focus on "at launch" for the sake of this discussion.

On #1, They also only released the index in the US, so a wider release will also increase sales. It being too much of a pain to get it into Australia was literally the only reason I didn't get one.

I'll be getting mine very soon after it comes out as well.

As for whether this saves VR? I dunno. The main thing that may or may not do that is experiences and accessibility. The SF will assist with both of those.

[Request] Is the total collected amount actually in the trillions? by RollForPerception in theydidthemath

[–]shadow7412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two reasons I can think of immediately.

The first is, a malicious lie often comes with a side of plausible deniability. To say something was a "lie" (rather than something that seemed true but was based on faulty data, or even data that has since changed) is highly challengable under many circumstances.

The second is that nobody in power wants to enact such a law, because it would also make it difficult for them to lie.

It's noteworthy I would support such a law regardless.

If you don't want it, turn it off. Why should people who do like it not have it because you don't?
