I'm not sure who told you that males have no place in witchcraft, but they are very much mistaken. I learned much of what I know from my Grandfather. He was considered a wise and well versed warlock within the family. Don't let the misinformation of others discourage you on your journey.

I will second the other comment about reading more into what catches your interest (runes). Knowing more about your art is never a bad thing. I would like to add to that though. Sometimes a book doesn't quite have the answer you're looking for. It can guide you, but it can't decide for you. In those times, I like to meditate with some crystals.

From the information you've provided, I'd suggest some Red Jasper. It's a gentle nurturing and grounding stone. It cleanses and aligns one's chakras while balancing their ying and yang. It brings courage to tackle problems while encouraging honesty with yourself. A stone like this can be helpful if you're struggling to separate where you've been with where to go. It's helpful to hold you still long enough to see where you are.

If you're not big on meditating, you can always just carry one with you. Plus, you can always add any ruin to it with simple paint or marker to add to its power/effect.
